I test drove a vehicle on Nov 17th, and liked everything about the car, except noticed the "check engine" light was on. The salesman said it would be resolved if I purchased the car, but then told me that s about the car, except noticed the "check engine" light was on. The salesman said it would be resolved if I purchased the car, but then told me that since they did not know how much the repair would cost, I should pay a higher price for the car. He offered me a lower price -with the check engine light on, or a higher price with it off! I was floored! He finally agreed to the lower price with the engine light issue resolved, but could not give me a straight answer about what the problem was when we came to pick the car up. He thought it was the oxygen sensor... Less than 70 miles later (2 days of driving), the engine starts sputtering so badly we were unable to make it home, and my trustworthy mechanic says that there is a serious issue with the ignition coils, and it will cost $1300 to repair. I called the Freeway Ford Used Car Sales Manager, and asked what he would be able to do to help make the issue right for us. He told me that he's sorry this happened, but his mechanics could not possibly have mis-diagnosed the problem, and that this "underlying issue" must have developed after I drove the car off the lot! He went on to say that he understands why I'm upset, but under state law he has no obligation to do anything. (Since our used car was over 100K it isn't protected by MN 30 day used car lemon law) Sounds to me like he has heard from disappointed customers before & is perfectly okay doing nothing to resolve the issues. I sincerely hope the $1000 they're saving by treating us poorly is lost 100x over by customers AVOIDING THIS DEALER LIKE THE PLAGUE. They are your worst nightmare, slick, weasel-y used sales car types, have proven to be dishonest & they don't care about keeping or satisfying their customers AT ALL. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! More
I bought a used saturn from this dealership- but upon bringing the car in for service, I got scrutinized because my car was not a ford. The worker kept bringing up that it was a ford service center, not bringing the car in for service, I got scrutinized because my car was not a ford. The worker kept bringing up that it was a ford service center, not a saturn service center, and that he shouldn't have to know anything about a different model of car. I was only bringing my car in for an oil change, I've had about 4 different brands of cars- and have been able to change the oil in every single one of them.. and i'm a female graphic designer, not a mechanic. Prior to coming in that day, I had requested mobile 1 be used when I made the appointment (this was 3 days prior-) they said they would have to order it in and set the appointment. They recommended I bring my own oil filter, as they took longer to order in- this I did all of this. It seemed that the service would be above and beyond up until the time that I actually got there. Figuring everything was in place due to previous discussion with someone else on the phone, and clarification of my previous requests/specification to this salty service worker, he told me to come back in 45 mins to pick it up. I gave him about an hour and a half, just to be safe, and upon returning, he told me he had bad news. WORST thing to say to someone getting their car serviced- by the way. I was worried for about 10 seconds until he went on to explain that he hadn't done anything to my car because they didn't have any Mobile 1. My car sat there for well over enough time to make 2 oil changes, and he couldn't even call me to inform me of this mishap. He continued by saying his phones did not work, even though I heard someone on the phone when I was there dropping it off, and further more, EVERYONE has a cell phone. There was no reason why he couldn't call. It wasted my entire day, just because I purchased a Saturn at a Ford dealership apparently. I will never purchase/service/recommend this dealership to anyone because it is official that they really could care less about you after you drive off the lot. More
