Visited this dealership while shopping for used vehicle. I explained to the salesman type of car I needed and how much I was willing to spend. I was looking for a compact car 2009 or newer with lower miles I explained to the salesman type of car I needed and how much I was willing to spend. I was looking for a compact car 2009 or newer with lower miles 40,000 to 60,000 for a price between 10,000 and 12000. After being shown a few vehicles that I did not like the sales man had me test drive a 2010 honda civic, when I saw the sticker price I explained that it was way over my budget at 18,700.00 he said that since it was slow that day he thought the manager would be willing to give me a great price, I said there was no way he could come close to 12,000, he said it did not hurt to ask. First he asks me to sign a paper that says other than price is there any reason I would not buy the car, I sign his silly form. Sure enough he comes back with a price of 14,500, a good price but as I explained, above what I had intended to spend. Than the whole "whats the payment you can afford " talking starts I say 200 per month he says well if you push the term out to 60 months with the amount I'm putting down, I'm right where I want to be. I say no I don't want a 60 month loan. Mind you I have now been at the dealership going on 4 hours I explain my finances, current job situation and many other things trying to get across to them that although this is a nice car with great milage (less than 12,000) Its just to expensive. Then the big guy comes out of the back he shows me a kelly blue book printout for a honda civic with low miles in excellent condition and says "This is the exact car you are getting " the kelly BB is 18,700.00 and he is offering it to me at 14,500, and he'll even give me free oil changes for a year and throw in a tank of gas. He than proceeds to explain that if I take a 60 month loan and make 2 additional payments a year the loan will be paid in 38 months it is now going on 8:30 pm and Im on the ropes, I probably should have left at that point but instead I take the deal, sign the paper work and am out the door at 9:45 pm total time spent is 6 hrs. The following day I have to return to dealership with copy of current registration to transfer plates I look over the paper work and discover that the Kelly BB print out he showed me is for a Honda Civic EX-L the car I purchased is a Civic Ex the difference is Leather interior, Nav system, traction control and other options not on the EX. Kelly BB on an EX?? 16,700. Now I am upset to say the least. I feel I was lied to and taken advantage of. I drive back to the dealership intent on returning the car. I am told that although they are sorry the sales manager made a "mistake" by showing me the wrong KBB there is really nothing that they can do and that it was still a good deal, and after all I did sign for it. I say I want to return the car and am told I can't since there is not a 3 day law in NJ. I say that I will leave the car in the lot and we will go to court because I say I feel they did not bargain in good faith. We go back and forth for a half hour and finally another sales manager comes out and offers me 500.00 off the price, I took the deal reluctantly but still feel duped. Total time to buy car 7 hrs. My advice to you if you visit this dealership is to beware of these shady sales tactics, of bait and switch. Although all the sales people there appear to be friendly the bottom line is they are there to sell you cars at the highest price they can, believe nothing they tell you and load up on the red bull because its going to be a long stressful day. Went to Freehold Hyundai yesterday, 4/9/13, with my daughter to buy a Sonata for myself and she was buying a Tucson. We had researched the cars, received quotes from dealers and were ready to buy. Wh daughter to buy a Sonata for myself and she was buying a Tucson. We had researched the cars, received quotes from dealers and were ready to buy. While the quote from Freehold was somewhat higher, their ad offering $6000 cash back, etc. made their deal seem better. We were greeted by a young salesman who offered a test drive. We went with him to their other lot and spent 15 minutes looking for the Tucson that he had brought the keys for. Finally located the car, then spent 20 minutes searching for the Sonata, which he couldn't find. We followed him back to the dealership in the Tucson and he began his sales pitch. I stopped him to ask about the $6000 cash back and $6000 extra for the trade in. I also noticed a $4000 add on to the sticker for an extended warranty. When I told him we weren't interested he said we must take it, it's on the sticker. Then he offered $6000 off the sticker plus the add on for a net savings of $2000. After explaining why this was absurd and deceptive, against which he argued vehemently, He proceeded to explain the virtues of the extended warranty. I told him that meant we would have to have more than $4000 worth of repairs to break even and if the car was that bad, I didn't want it. After a few minutes more listening to this angry kid give me more xx, I told him that I've bought more cars than he sold, and left. We then went to Brad Benson Hyundai where we were treated fairly and respectfully. We were offered great deals and both left with new cars last night. Please excuse the length of this review, but it only covers part of the craziness with this dealership. Stay away!! More
I traveled 50 miles to see an Acura RDX listed on Cargurus for 20,000, when I arrived there they denied me the price. After being there trying to negotiate for almost 5 hours, they rushed me as it wa Cargurus for 20,000, when I arrived there they denied me the price. After being there trying to negotiate for almost 5 hours, they rushed me as it was approaching 10pm to sign multiple documents. When I arrived, I realized that they charged me nearly 24,500. As I review the interactions, I recognize that they just manipulated the numbers so many times that it seems to make sense. Also, that I acknowledged being aware that there was body work and paint completed on the car which had a CLEAN car fax with no accidents reported which they never informed me about. This transaction was on Friday, 4-5-12, beware that the contract says that there is not a cool down period and you are bound by the obligation to keep the car. Since I have learned about this matter, there was an unanswered call placed to them and I have cancelled the check since I will be disputing the sale since they did not tell me of the accident and contacting the BBB.
