I made an appointment drop my truck off they had it for two full days all to replace two airbag inflators and a retaining ring for the pinion nut I then get a call on day 1 saying that my pinion seal is bad and it'll cost me $171 to replace a $10 seal and that if they don't replace the seal they will fill it up with fluid but it will probably just drain right out and eventually my rear end will lock up Chrysler.com says the kit included the seal also after speaking to three people from Chrysler customer care they advised me to take my truck to a different shop but I was already getting the work done so I had to go through with it All three of them from customer care told me that the seal is covered along with Chrysler.com showing the parts that are included in the recall package and that if I'm forced to pay that money to send them a copy of my invoice and payment and they will reimburse me The thing is they were only supposed to put a retaining ring on the pinion nut so it doesn't come loose I asked him how they were able to tell my seal is bad because they weren't supposed to take it apart that far and because they took it apart that far to be able to see the condition of the seal it disturbed the seal which at that point would need to be replaced they also told me that my truck was not leaking from the seal when I brought it in after two full days they called me to tell me my truck is done a half hour before they closed there is two types of packages for the recall If the pinion nut is not loose then you just throw a retaining ring so it doesn't come loose or if the nut did happen to come loose then there's a slightly bigger package with more parts to recondition the rear end they said my seal was not covered because I had no rear end damage My pinion nut to my knowledge was not coming loose so they only ordered the retaining ring package and because the seal was being replaced they should have then ordered the package that included the seal Chrysler said that does not matter and that if the seal needed to be replaced it 100% is covered in the recall so in the end I had to pay the $171 in Chrysler ended up reimbursing me other than that they were friendly and nice they told me they would give me a ride home and pick me up to go pick up my truck they gave me a ride home but then when they called to tell me my truck was done I asked if they were able to pick me up and they said they had nobody there to drive at the moment which is understandable but it left me finding a ride to pick up my truck 30 minutes before they closed it's an inconvenience that I had to pay money for the seal just for Chrysler to reimburse me not to mention it was 171 in the seal was only 10 to $20 and doing the recall they had the truck already apart to where they could have replaced the seal right then and there so I don't know where they got that price from when the labor was already covered in the recall I will never go there again and I advise anybody who has to get recalls done to find a different shop unless you want to pay for the recall More
