Pennsylvania 11/15/2021 WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN!! Wife was in a car accident November 2019 and car was totaled, so we had to find a replacement vehicle in a short time and ended up at Frederick's in Lebanon which is quite a drive for us since we live in southern York county...over an hour one way. Found a used 2019 Kia Sorrento that was in our price range, took it for a ride, liked it, but asked about the tires which looked pretty worn. First salesman told us they would be replaced so after all the paperwork and extra money for a top of the line extended warranty plan, days later we were told it had been gone over in the service dept. and was ready to go! No new tires and second salesperson said that they don't put new tires on a used vehicle...never, because they are selling it to us at the lowest price anywhere! After having it a day or two, we needed to buy new windshield wipers, then noticed the oil change sticker said it was overdue for a oil and filter change, so there is more money out of pocket! The mechanic doing the oil change said...you are going to need to buy new tires for this vehicle because it won't pass inspection. Sure enough when taking it for inspection, it needed four new tires!!! Frederick would do nothing!!! So just a very short time after having this car, we shelled out over $700 for things that should have been done at the dealership, but remember they sell things cheaper than anyone...hahaha! Pre-certified my butt!!!! Forward to recently...heading to the beach in October 2021, the Kia started to stall and wouldn't accelerate, scary on a four hour trip!!! Called Frederick's and need to take it to their dealership in Lebanon, then Ladd Hansford Kia would do the repairs. Took a long time to find out if the original warranty would cover it or extended warranty would need to be used. Numerous calls made to Ladd-Hansford with no responses back and dealing with the warranty guy at Frederick's was frustrating. Also, after finding out that the protective shield under the car to protect the engine, catalytic converter, etc. was missing and the vehicle had not been wrecked to have it fall off, we asked Frederick's if they could put a new shield on the car and was told NO since we had the car almost two years, they would not spend the $200 to put it on, so much for customer service and warranties!!! Finally after 2 1/2 weeks we drove over to Lebanon to pick up our car, and the work was on a Frederick's service letterhead which was shady because they didn't do the work! Contacted Ladd-Hansford to send me a copy of the original service billing for my records! Frederick's is not customer service oriented at all, no keep our customers happy attitude, making sure vehicles are correctly serviced before customer taking delivery and in our eyes shady........SO LOOK ELSEWHERE TO GET A GREAT DEAL!! Bought a new vehicle and the sales documents stated the wrong mileage, also was lied to multiple times about the vehicle and where it came from. Tried to resolve the situation with the dealer and return th wrong mileage, also was lied to multiple times about the vehicle and where it came from. Tried to resolve the situation with the dealer and return the vehicle with less miles on it than what is stated on the sales agreement and the dealership has failed to contact me back or resolve the issue. Due to the sales agreement having the incorrect mileage and if the vehicle was wrecked after leaving the lot and needed to have a gap insurance claim submitted they could have denied the claim with incorrect mileage on the vehicle. Very very disappointed we could not work out something civil with the dealership! Poor customer satisfaction. I was also not informed of some features on the vehicle. More
My time at Frederick Chevrolet has been by far the worst, most dishonorable, rude car buying experience I have even encountered. It seems they are using the great reputation of the previous owner to try and most dishonorable, rude car buying experience I have even encountered. It seems they are using the great reputation of the previous owner to try and hide the enormous amounts of snake oil they are selling. They want your money…and as soon as they get it…see ya later. Im not sure any of them have heard of customer service. My initial interactions were very impressive. I contacted the dealer through CarGurus website…and a salesman contacted me almost immediately. I asked for additional photos of the car ( I am not local to them ) and it was within the hour! I noticed a few areas of concern in the photos and he said it was just the cleaning crew and it was taken care of. And assured me there was no accident in the title check. My salesman Kevin seemed to be top notch and truly wanted to help me secure this purchase. Although I bought a Volkswagen from Chevrolet dealer, I felt comfortable because the advertising made it seem they do not sell junk, key word “seem”. The vehicle write-up stated, and I quote “100% CLEAN TITLE, GUARANTEED!” and they also advertised that they are Veteran owned and operated…once again making it seem that this might be an actual honest and honorable dealer…”seem”. I explained to Kevin that we were not local and might not be able to make it down immediately for the test drive and possible purchase. He was very understanding and said he would help me with paperwork online to mitigate as much wait time as possible. I ended taking a day off work, grabbed the family and drove three hours to the dealership. It was raining the entire day and when we pulled up, he was very accommodating, letting us pull into the garage to get the kids out without everybody getting wet. We took a quick walk around the car and proceeded to go to his desk and get a few things signed so I could go on the test drive. In getting ready to load up for the test drive, my car with the car seats had already been taken for appraisal…so my wife stayed behind with the kids. Kevin attempted to go over the car and its features, but seemed to be stumbling and guessing based on the picture on the buttons. He stated he had been in the business less than a year, and giving the benefit of the doubt…it was a Volkswagen. In the test drive the car seemed pretty good, it was a previous enterprise rental, so I didn’t expect everything to be perfect. But I noticed the wiper blades would travel beyond the edge of windshield, and it tended to pull all over the road. The dash panel had quite a bit of damage, especially where the windshield and the dash meet. There were also some tool marks around the rest of the trim panels…like it had been tampered with. When I returned, I asked again about the interior…he said they could do anything, but they did fix a scratch. I decided to just deal with the little issues and move forward. He got a sales manager Derek who stated he was going to test drive the vehicle to check the alignment and get the wiper adjusted. He also said if there was anything out of spec it would be taken care of. After about an hour of wait time Derek “confirmed” that it was the lane assist, with the roads being wet and the lines being wet, it was confusing the car…and the alignment was actually fine, and the wiper was adjusted! Another 45 minutes and we finally were able to sit down with a finance consultant. So much for saving any time. I can say with great confidence, the finance consultants were truly top notch. They were thorough, and actually cared about my experience. I have worked with all three in the department, two on this occasion and one in the past (at another dealer). The rest of the personnel and especially management could take a few lessons from these guys. In fact, they were the only ones that actually gave me a follow up call to see how things were going! After driving the new (used) car on the highway for some time…it was easy to tell the alignment was still way off. After some more time my wife and I decided to switch drivers. We noticed the seatbelt on the passenger side did not retract. I played with it for a minute, but just figured it was pinched and needed to be pulled out all the way and it would retract fine. After a short while, my wife wasn’t comfortable driving because the steering was so erratic. I had decided that the next morning I would call Kevin and state the issues. Next day, I call Kevin and let him know what was going on. I was instructed to make an appointment with my local VW dealer, and if the alignment was out of spec, they would cover $70 towards it. Now, going back to the conversation before I purchased…”if there is anything wrong we will take care of it for you”. What a lie that was! So, the weekend comes and we decide to get the car cleaned up because whoever did it, was not paying attention to detail. Headliner was stained and dirty, buttons were sticky, glass was streaky and dirty, just all together…it wasn’t up to par. In the midst of washing…we noticed the passenger side mirror was broken. Then looking further, I noticed the passenger headlight was fogged with moisture, then noticed the grill was crooked. Diving a little deeper, I opened the hood and immediately noticed the grill was actually broken, then noticed some type of string in the engine bay…I wasn’t string, it was hot glue holding my air box together! As we get washing, I noticed there was a texture on the entire surface of the car…it was clear coat over spray…usually when a car is repainted and it isn’t masked off properly. With my previous work being in autobody collision and repair, it was obvious what was going on. In my concerns I decided to purchase a Carfax report in hopes to find nothing. Once entering my VIN I discovered the worst. Not only had the vehicle been involved in a major accident…all air bags had been deployed with possible frame damage. Now time for my service appointment; the dealer took the car for a test drive before inspection, which included why the seatbelts didn’t retract. Upon inspection I learned that the seatbelt were replaced, but weren’t installed correctly!, and the repairs were so hacked together, that it voided my warranty. Going further I learned that I was sold a car that didn’t have matching tire sizes, and there were 56 stored fault codes in the computer. Also, the dealer recommended that before they attempted an alignment, they wanted to take the car to a frame shop, because the damages were that bad! I told then no on that aspect and i immediately called Kevin regarding everything. I was told to go ahead and replacing the tire, that I would be reimbursed for the service and Carfax, and I would be called back in 30 minutes from a manager about what to do with the car itself. So the next day…I finally received a call back from Derek telling me that they were going to replace the car. I was relieved to hear that and thought everything was still okay. After the first month of waiting…and many phone calls…true colors started to show. I would call to just be hung up on. Or call to confirm someone was there and they would walk away from their desk, so all of a sudden, they were no longer available. Smoke in mirrors and more snake oil. After month two…I was transferred to another manager, Jason. Jason actually seemed to try and answer my questions and get me right information. Now…I can say just about all information he gave me was incorrect, but I guess he at least tried, but ended up in the same boat with the rest. In the meantime, I asked about being reimbursed for my service appointment and Carfax. I was instructed to leave the general manager, Rob, a voicemail explaining and he would take care of it. I did receive a call back the next morning, but the conversation left me speechless. He told me that I “can’t just spend money and expect him to pay me back”, he also told me that “I should be grateful that he is even replacing the car, because he has no legal obligations to help me whatsoever!”. This was Christmas money I had saved for my kids that i used… I could not believe how unprofessional and arrogant this guy was. I have never been spoken to in that manner ever! I received a call a couple days later from Derek that Rob decided he would reimburse for the service but not for Carfax…because I didn’t have to run that report. So I decided to play the game until the car was replaced. A while later I was told the new car had been purchased and they were putting 4 new tires on it…everything was going to be right. So finally, after 3 months I was able to make another 3 hour drive (one way) to pick up the new car. Upon inspection, I immediately noticed that the replacement car still had mismatched tires. I told Jason that they put me between a rock and a hard spot…couldn’t even get 4 matching tires, after all the crap. Everything on the new car functioned properly and the computer scanner confirmed there were no fault codes. But I can say, they made no attempt to clean the car yet again. i pushed a button on my steering wheel and it actually oozed! They state they are “The New Frederick Chevrolet” but I thing the slogan should be “Stay away, from Frederick Chevrolet”! All in all, I can’t recommend this dealer to anyone. They are all talk and no service. Money hungry. They are so willing to advertise about veteran owned and operated…I know the owner is a veteran…not sure about the rest, but if this is how a veteran owned business is run…I will absolutely hesitate at any point in the future. They had absolutely zero honor and honesty. They have tainted so many reputations in the service industry. More

Been buying vehicles at Fredericks since 1995. I can still remember the names of all the sales associates that helped me with my purchases including Carol F (awesome person) who sold me my first truck a still remember the names of all the sales associates that helped me with my purchases including Carol F (awesome person) who sold me my first truck after college. My last purchase at Fredericks was in 2014, and I could tell then that it was not the same dealership that my family and had grown to respect. So even though I bought new vehicles since 2014 I did not purchase them at Fredericks not only because of the treatment from the sales department but also because of treatment from the service department re an issue I had with a truck I purchased new from the dealership. So fast forward to today..... I thought I’d give them another chance at earning my business with a used vehicle purchase. Needless to say I remembered why I left. They have this thing they call “no hassle” pricing for their used vehicles. What a bunch of crock. I went there in the beginning of October to drive a 2017 Optima but I did not really like the vehicle (not Frederick’s fault). I did inquire about a 2019 Fusion which listed $17,800 but was told that the price is what it is, no negotiation, and was more than I wanted to spend for a second vehicle. Fast forward to November I come to find out the price is now only $15,800 (same price as the Optima I went to look at). Ok, so what happened to the “no hassle” pricing and the take it or leave it attitude??? Fast forward to today 1/15/21 now the “no hassle” price is $13,900. So I figured I’d give it one last try. Turns out it was a big hassle for me. After making the second trip (60 miles round trip) Fredericks again failed to gain my business due to their unwillingness to negotiate. FREDERICKS..... not worth the hassle More
