Experience with Chivas Porter My mom and I were in Charleston visiting family before heading to North Carolina to visit my best friend in the Marines that I haven't seen in 2 years My mom and I were in Charleston visiting family before heading to North Carolina to visit my best friend in the Marines that I haven't seen in 2 years. My mom lost the keys to our Toyota Rave4 car hours before we were supposed to be leaving. After many frustrating phone calls, we had our car towed so they could make new keys for my mom. To our disappointment, they didn't have the equipment to make new keys and wouldn't get it until tomorrow. We were already several hours late for leaving to NC and had hotel reservations that were not refundable for that night. Chivas Porter called his friend, a locksmith, who was out to my mother in 30 minutes and had been able to make a key for us. We had gotten to our destination a lot later than planned, but my Marine best friend was still very happy to see me. Chivas didn't have to do what he did, but he saw customers in a sticky situation and did everything he could to help. He's an awesome employee and my mom, my best friend and I will never forget what he did for us! More

When I purchased my '11 Fj Cruiser, it was a very pleasant experience. Everyone was very professional and courteous. Since then, I've had a few experiences that make me feel spiteful. Braden sold pleasant experience. Everyone was very professional and courteous. Since then, I've had a few experiences that make me feel spiteful. Braden sold me the car. Really have nothing but nice things to say there. Really nice guy. At the closing and financing table someone else sold me an extended warranty and explained that it would cover all of the maintenance in the service plan book and even a new set of tires. Two days after the 20,000 mile scheduled service, the car was running poorly. I checked the oil and the dipstick was dry. After having it towed to the dealership, they unapologetically informed me that the tech hadn't set the filter/gasket properly causing the oil to drain out. Later, I lost my key. Toyota makes it impossible for anyone other than Toyota to cut a key. Fine. At my service appointment I ordered a new key from Heather for $300. She quoted me one hour of labor at about $100. She was very professional and courteous. When the key came in the next day, heather was not there. A disheveled man told me Heather was wrong and the labor would be 2 hours for about $200. The job was finished in 30 minutes. The disheveled man still charged for 2 hours justifying his position by saying that "if it had been an inexperienced tech, it would have taken 2 hours", condescendingly adding,"don't lose em again." He also showed me where the tech had time in those 30 minutes to do the roughly 20 point inspection. Having clearly been deceived and ripped off, I called the service manager whose name and number were listed on the form. He didn't return my call after leaving a voicemail. Now, at the end of my extended warranty, I use the local competition for service. They are professional, courteous and honest. They have informed me that my warranty is actually only good for drivetrain defects and oil changes, but not for the service of the drivetrain or the tires. I should have read the fine print in the warranty. It was foolish to trust the finance guy at Toyota of Charleston. Also, they're service department is sorely lacking. For service, Hendrick Toyota in North Charleston is a superior company. More

Since then, I had an issue with the paint on the hood starting to become multi-tonal. So, I brought it to them. They called me 2hrs later to say it was done and fixed. Well, I showed up and the two spots on the hood were clearly still there. Then, they asked me to bring it back the next day so they could get it to the body shop which fixed the problem, but no one called me. I had to call in to see if my truck was ready! Now, I get my truck back and there is permanent marker on the center console. I drove back to the dealer and they said they would order a new unit and they tell me to come back again. I go back yesterday and they ordered the wrong part (rear instead of front console) and installed it. Now they want me to come back again today to get the right part put in, but again, no one called me. I had to inquire myself as to if the part had actually come in. I live 45min away from the dealership and they ask me to make multiple trips to make up for their poor service, as if I live next door. I am not trying to rant, I am just informing you of a dealership with extremely poor organization, management, and service representing the Toyota name. I work for a large company and have since spoken with many people here having similar issues. However hindsight is always 20/20. I like my truck very much, but this kind of atmosphere would dissuade me from being a life long costumer. My wife is looking for a vehicle. It might be Toyota, but it will not be from this dealership. I plan on trying the other dealership in the area for future service issue More

On Monday disabled on interstate 95. My vehicle breakdown occurred on Sunday afternoon which required an overnight stay until they opened on Monday. On Monday the problem was identified and the part was ordered. The assistant service manager,Greg, went out of his way to explain the problem and the steps necessary to fix it. He contacted a local car rental company for me before I had a chance to request that service and put me at ease about the repair. The repair work was completed on Tuesday as promised and I was able to continue my trip to Florida. The repair work was done professionally and the service team could not have been better. I have owned 7 Toyotas and this incident is but one of the reasons that I have brand loyalty. By the way, I want to also mention Avon Bailey and Tonya in the sales department for their sales expertise and professionalism. I spoke to both of them at length about the purchase of a new car in the event that my vehicle was going to be too costly to repair. More
I'd like to thank Chivas Porter, assistant service manager, for being so amazing. He has been taking care of both our vehicles for several years and has never failed to impress. Our truck was towed to manager, for being so amazing. He has been taking care of both our vehicles for several years and has never failed to impress. Our truck was towed to the dealership the night before, and when I called Chivas in the morning with a list of issues that needed his attention, he assured me that everything would be resolved and made me feel so relaxed. When the work was completed, I was not disappointed. Chivas was again the knowledgeable professional who always treats me with respect. In a world where excellent service is a diminishing commodity, Chivas breaks that mold. Thanks so much. I would also like to thank Paul Melnick, technician, for his exceptional mechanical expertise in making both our Toyotas run like tops. He is also extremely patient and never condescending when talking with me about some of the concerns I have had with our vehicles. I really appreciate that. We are completely loyal to both Chivas and Paul and would never consider having either vehicle serviced by anyone else. More
