We are deeply concerned that you feel your mother’s experience here was anything less than exceptional. We would gladly take another look at her concerns with her Nissan Sentra at no charge. But several items you mentioned deserve to be clarified: “She took it to Fred Anderson on 6/3/15 and was told nothing was wrong with the power but it needed a brake job.” In fact, one of our certified Nissan technicians drove the vehicle with Ms. Justice. During the test drive Ms. Justice informed the technician that she drives with “both feet” and that the lack of power happens most often on an incline. The technician verified that the vehicle was performing normally and then explained to Ms. Justice that Nissan vehicles are equipped with a safety feature known as a brake override. If the vehicle was getting input (pressing even slightly) on both the gas and the brake then the brake not only slows and stops the car but the car’s computer kills power to the engine. Essentially these cars will only take input from one pedal at a time. The brake pedal input will always override the gas pedal input. This feature was designed to prevent a “runaway” gas pedal. Some of our more senior customers have experienced this problem also. Once they are informed the problem never returns. Also this vehicle is equipped with a Hill Stop Assist Feature. Essentially it keeps you from rolling backward when accelerating away from a stop on a hill. Combined with the aforementioned driving style and brake override feature it seems the most likely problem. “They turned the brake rotors, did not replace the pads” “and not to replace brake pads during a brake job is shameful” Ms. Justice also complained that the brakes pulsate. The technician performed a thorough inspection of the front and rear pads, the rotors, brake lines, calipers and hoses. Everything checked out well except that the front rotors were slightly warped, causing the pulsation. The rotors were turned to correct the warpage and the front pads were both buffed and lubricated to insure they would operate well with the resurfacing of the rotors. I think it’s noteworthy that the technician did not recommend replacing perfectly good pads thus saving Ms. Justice money. “And just a side note to all, don't let them tell you that you need a 4 wheel alignment on a front wheel drive car, it's a lie and not possible, (2 wheel alignment only possible, and should be cheaper” Ms. Justice requested we perform the front end alignment on her car. In fact we always hook up all four wheels when doing an alignment. It would be a useless endeavor to align the front end of a vehicle and not know the positioning of the rear wheels. Many cars have adjustment features on the rear suspension (yes, even front wheel drive). Also we want to insure the vehicle is tracking properly. No amount of front end alignment would cure a vehicle that isn’t properly tracking in a straight line. Checking the rear wheels also provides an assessment of any possible damage or defective rear suspension components. Also noteworthy that there is no difference in price between our two wheel or four wheel alignment. “Then on 7/23/15 she called me again with a dead battery and no way to get to work. So I closed my business and took her a new battery to replace the one checked by Fred Anderson, which showed only 59 amps, costing me over $112.00” We have no record of Ms. Justice requesting we check her battery or informing us of a problem with the battery. However we would normally do this as part of our multi-point courtesy inspection. Even though the problem occurred almost two months after her visit here I am authorizing a refund of $112 to Ms. Justice for the battery. Again, if Ms. Justice is having any continuation of previous problems with her vehicle I encourage her to bring the vehicle back to us and we would be more than happy to take another look at no charge to her.
