I went in head strong looking to buy a new Jeep Grand Cherokee L model for my wife and family. We had a 2018 Expedition with the normal engine issues that kept coming back. We owed more than what the truck was worth and just needed a dealership to work with me to put my family in a safe reliable vehicle. I looked online and came across Boucher Dodge and figured i would give them a call. I ended up talking to a gentleman named Randy Ludlum. We discussed the situation and made an appointment to come in and see what we could work out. Randy and the team tried there hardest to get me into a Jeep Grand Cherokee L though it just wasn't working out Randy then mentioned about a Volkswagen. I have always been a domestic car/truck person and was very resistant to the idea. Randy went back to work on trying to get me into the Jeep. It wasn't working so Randy came back and said to me just take a look at one and go from there. He mentioned VW has a lot of great incentives right now and we may be able to get a brand new safe a family car on budget. In my mind I came to buy a Jeep not a VW Atlas. lol Well he kept saying, I'm here to help you get into a good vehicle and out of this situation with your current vehicle. Never and I mean NEVER was Randy nor his team pushy at any time and that means a lot to me. Long story short, I ended up taking a brand-new Atlas home to my family and my wife is a very happy wife. Stopped at the dealership a couple times before seeing the vehicle. Wasn’t acknowledged 2 times and as I was leaving I saw a bunch of sales persons tucked around the back of the building, had to ask to ta the vehicle. Wasn’t acknowledged 2 times and as I was leaving I saw a bunch of sales persons tucked around the back of the building, had to ask to talk to a salesman.. that was my first impression of the dealership. When I finally spoke to a salesman he was great, did a test drive, I liked the vehicle although I felt the braking was shakey, I purchased the vehicle with them agreeing to look and fix any braking issue. Had the vehicle 2 days then i got my first check engine light, I sent a not so nice message to my salesman because I was really upset. I spent good money on this vehicle to have a check engine light 2 days into it. He responded very unprofessionally with the same attitude I gave him but he is a representative of the company and I was a purchaser that feels like if I’m buying a vehicle from a dealership it should be inspected for any major issues and those be fixed before selling said vehicle. He told me there could be thousands of reasons a check engine like could pop.. I sure hope not on a vehicle I’m dropping 40000 on.. he did tell me I could bring it in and get it checked out when I had time. A week or 2 passed and I encountered 2 more check engine lights less than a month into ownership. I had a day where I got off work at a decent time and took it in and the service team was great, they hooked it up found the issue which was a big one indeed! Not just a minor check engine light for one of a thousand reasons.. now it’s in the shop waiting on inspection before my warranty claim gets approved and I get my vehicle fixed and returned. I do believe they would make the problem right if I didn’t get the warranty but who knows.. the vehicle was on the lot for almost 100 days and it’s hard to believe 2 days after I purchased it is the first time they saw that check engine light for that issue. More
