Excellent buying experience I shopped 3 Kia dealers for a 2017 Sorento. I only negotiate based on dealer’s invoice – not MSRP, so I always ask for the invoice of the car I’m cons I shopped 3 Kia dealers for a 2017 Sorento. I only negotiate based on dealer’s invoice – not MSRP, so I always ask for the invoice of the car I’m considering. When I asked one dealer for the invoice, I never heard back. When I asked the second one, I got a song and dance about how it wasn’t available. Plus, he said no Colorado dealer can eliminate the “dealer prep” cost. Not true. When I asked Brian Overton at Medved for the invoice he quickly produced it, saying he’s got nothing to hide, and even showed me the amount of the “dealer holdback” (hidden profit). After a few minutes of negotiating a reasonable profit for Medved, I ordered a Sorento -- since I wanted certain options and color they didn’t have. No hassle, pleasant experience. PS: If a Kia salesman tells you Kia has a 5 year bumper-to-bumper warranty – not true – it’s basically the same as other 5 year warranties. You’ll see what’s covered, for how long, when you ask for a sheet that shows the cost of extended warranties. More
