I'm a CA resident who attempted to purchase a loaded "demo" model CT5-V from Foundation Cadillac (FC) in Wheat Ridge, CO. My sales person was Alex Metes. The vehicle in question had in excess of 3k mi "demo" model CT5-V from Foundation Cadillac (FC) in Wheat Ridge, CO. My sales person was Alex Metes. The vehicle in question had in excess of 3k miles yet FC was still asking full MSRP. Alex suggested he'd try and get the price reduced by $2850.00 in an attempt to get me to come up $1,500.00 from my original offer. Alex was kind enough to send numerous photos of the vehicle after he said it had been detailed. As would be expected after 3k miles, there appeared to be rock chips on the front bumper (not full MSRP worthy to me). I then found out GM was offering a separate $750 discount (Cadillac Customer Cash), not originally part of our negotiation. I also found out I was entitled to a separate $500 discount (First Responder) and was therefore prepared to make the deal work. Alex went to the sales manager Erik Mallory and after considering my above mentioned discounts, the overall deal they offered was get this, $1500.00 over what Alex originally offered (all in writing). So I tried to be a prudent buyer and negotiate the price first. Then I advised the dealer of my potential credits (First Responder / Cadillac Customer Cash). Their negotiated price was however NOT honored when they realized further discounts would apply. I called GM marketing and was told it was a good thing I didn't purchase the vehicle as vehicles sent to Colorado are not CA emissions compliant. I advised Alex of this fact and his reply was, "I've shipped 4 vehicles to CA this year, no issues." Well after what occurred in my negotiations, I think the GM marketing rep has more credibility than Alex. He didn't offer proof the CT5-V in question was CA emissions complaint. Take away: We all know dealers and salesmen serve their pocket books and not our interests; can't blame them for that. Be an informed buyer so that these sales tactics don't cost you thousands of dollars. I have a feeling the days are coming back when dealers will be begging us to buy their inventory that's filling up their lots. UPDATE: Immediately after posting this review the new vehicle fleet manager reached out stating he wanted to make things right. And that he did! It appears there were some misunderstandings all around. Needless to say Foundation Cadillac has honored their original offer in good faith and applied the appropriate discounts. Thank you Alex Metes and Tyler Brown. More
