Sold incorrectly running car One year ago I bought a heavily modded 2008 Mustang GT. When I went to see the car, it was around 10 degrees and -25 wind chills. When I went to test One year ago I bought a heavily modded 2008 Mustang GT. When I went to see the car, it was around 10 degrees and -25 wind chills. When I went to test this care I could tell it was not running great, but I thought this was possibly because of the super cold temps. The car would die when trying to take off or revving the engine as it was a manual. I finally was able to get a small test drive in, but it died maybe 5 times in an 1/8 mile test drive. Now this car was a built supercharged mustang. They claimed it was upwards of "700 "hp, later found it it was more around 600, which is a HUGE difference and false statements from the sales person. So the sales people assured me that it was not running great because of the cold temperatures. With that in mind I bought the car, knowing I would never drive it in the cold anyway and was meant to be a summer vehicle. So I purchased the car and they offered to deliver it to my house, free of charge. I thought that was great and I accepted. So the car was delivered within a week and while it was tough to get off the trailer because of the running issues, I finally got it off the trailer and in the garage. The day after it was delivered, I needed to move it to access something in the garage. So I try to start the car and it will not fire. I tired a few times throughout the day and still nothing. When this happened, I immediately called Kunes and reported the car would not even run now. They did not want to deal with it directly, so they asked me to have it towed to another Ford dealership in town and they would take care of the costs. So I had to towed to this dealership in town. Well this this is a heavily modded mustang, the dealership said they cannot work on it with the custom tune in there and asked me to remove it. So I did, hoping the tuner had a backup. Well after 2 days I got a call that they cannot work on this car because of all the modifications. When the dealership reported this, I called Kunes once again and now they said to have it towed to their shop. So AGAIN I call and get it towed, this time to their shop. At this point I am getting very aggregated and have decided this car is not worth the trouble. So I follow the tow truck down to their dealership and have decided I want out of this car. So I go talk to my sales person Deanna and inform here I want to return the car as it has been nothing but a hassle. Now that I want out of the car, she leaves the office and here comes the managers. We talk things over and one of the managers states that they are qualified to work on high horsepower engines and will have their techs work on it. I was extremely skeptical, because of all the modifications to the car, but they assured me. So I thought I would take a chance. Now one week later I follow up with the mechanics and find the car is not even at their dealership anymore. Like I had thought, they had no idea how to work on this kind of engine setup and sent it to a performance shop. Well that was nice of them to inform me of this or even ask my opinion as this is MY car. So i follow up on this and find that they sent the car to a local performance shop, but come to find out that this shop specializes in Chevy vehicles, not FORD. So weeks go by and I keep checking in with the shop. They stated their are multiple issue with the car. The plugs were fouled, so that is why it would not start. Also the idler pulley was shredding belts. So they made modifications to fix that. It was at this shop for about 6 weeks or more. When i was called by the performance shop, they stated the car was done and running and they did the best they could with the drive ability. Well, that is comforting!!! Now it is time to pick up the car and i talk with Kunes and they offer to pick up 75% of the bill. HUH??? It is not my fault that this car does not run right and did not even run a day after being dropped off. I argued back and forth with them, but they refused to pay for the dyno tune that had to be done on this type of car. they state they will not pay it because I removed the original tune. Oh sure, I was instructed to do this by the dealership they sent me to, because they attempted to pawn this issue riddled car on another dealership. So this cost me another $800.00. It was obvious I was getting nowhere and they were arguing the fact that this was a track car (it is not). So I finally gave up and went to pick up the car. Let's just say I was less than impressed. The car was running, but still died quite a bit on normal driving. Now this is like 8 weeks or so after i bought this and was so pissed with Kunes and the extra money I was spending, that I just kept the car. I know for a fact that after all this, they never would have reimbursed me for the out of pocket money I had to spend. Not to mention all the time spent on having this towed and the extra trips to their dealership. So lets move months later after it warmed up, I had the car sent to a Mustang performance shop in Indiana. After all these hassles, I felt there was no choice, but to send it to the best in the country to get it running correctly. Well here is another $1,600 in shipping costs, but I had no choice at this point. It is almost 6 months since I bought this car and it still runs like junk. I got the car down to Indiana and they stated working on it within 3 days. I had them check the engine because the after all this I did not want to go any further if the engine was damaged or hurt. They found the engine was in good shape, but the tune and previous tunes in the car were complete garbage and that is why it was not running correctly and fouling plugs. Also it was still shredding belts, so they fixed that too. They also found a leak in the intercooler. All issues that were present on the sale of this car, but found later. The performance shop was able to retune the care and fix a number of issues found. I got the car back after this and it runs Beautiful. It is certainly not a track car and can be run as a daily driver with no problems at all. So the bottom line is they absolutely should have never taken in a car like this in the first place, but since they did, they should stand behind it and cover all costs to make it run correctly. They said to me many times that this is how the car is supposed to run and you have to adjust how to drive correctly. That was all a bunch of BS as they just wanted to offload the car and make it someone else's problem. They knew it was not running correctly, but since they stated "track car" on the site, I knew there was not much I could fight them on. "Technicalities" Needless to say I will never do business with them again. They handled this so poorly and I should have never been talked out of returning the car. $6,000 later after the initial purchase of the car, I finally have a correctly running car. More
