Below is my recent experience at Fletcher Jones Mercedes Service department with my 2016 C450. My service advisor at a local Mercedes dealer had left so I decided I would try a dealership closer to home Service department with my 2016 C450. My service advisor at a local Mercedes dealer had left so I decided I would try a dealership closer to home. I placed my service order online, talked to a lovely lady, explained my issues, and informed her that I was using an extended warranty to cover my repairs; everything seemed on the up and up. Having seen the reviews on how great Fletcher Jones was in the service department, I was very excited to give them a try. After pulling in, it was a normal experience getting from my car into my service advisor Mike's office. My rental was being arranged, Mike seemed like a knowledgeable and decent person, and when I got out my extended warranty information that is when things went south. I was told that in his vast experience that extended warranties do not cover most repairs and/or they won't cover OEM equipment. Great, so I offered to pull up the extensive documentation of what they would cover, having used this warranty at another local Mercedes dealership with entirely no issue. Mike was not interested. When I suggested that we call the warranty for verification, I was told that would take 30-45 minutes. Mike was yet again not interested. Fun fact, I called them today for fun and I was immediately connected to a representative. At this point it was very clear that Mike was really not wanting to help me and I was legit feeling embarrassed and rather upset. Even still, I needed to get my issues addressed so I continued. Then I was told that sometimes it takes a while for the dealership to get paid from an extended warranty, and that they would not release my car until it was paid. I would have a rental car for one day and I would be responsible for payment of said rental until they received a check from the extended warranty. If Mike had at all been interested in looking up my warranty he would've seen it also covered rental car reimbursement, but Mike wasn't interested. I could only conclude that Mike didn't believe I was worthy of their service. So I graciously declined service and waited for 20 minutes outside for my car to be returned to me. As of today, my car is currently being serviced at another local Mercedes dealership. I drove in, was there for twenty minutes, given a rental car without restrictions, was specifically told that my extended warranty was very well known and accepted just like it was previously, and left feeling like my business was welcome and appreciated. Take from this what you will. I am sure Fletcher Jones Service Department is amazing if you have a Mercedes still under manufacture warranty, but I would never set foot in that place again. It was an embarrassing and degrading experience and I would've expected Mercedes to treat all customers with respect no matter their form of payment. Or at the very least, be upfront and say "we do not accept extended warranties" from the initial appointment setting. More
