Mr. Mason Benoit, I appreciate your response, and I feel you should be advised of the issues presented because as a general manager myself, I would find it difficult to believe you would accept your business being run in such a manner. The details leading up to my review are as follows: On November 23, after making contact with a sales Rep Mathew McEntee regarding the 2016 Nissan Rogue in arctic blue you have listed at 14.5k, I arranged childcare for my 4 children, and set out from Jacksonville Florida with the full intention of purchasing the vehicle that evening. The trip took approximately 4 hours due to inclement weather. Upon arrival I was greeted by Matt at the door and shown the vehicle. There was notable damage to the rear fender in two places, a hole or puncture to the hard plastic wall of the hatch, debris blowing out of the rear air vent, scraping to the passenger front rim, melted nylon on the pouch on back of front passenger seat that appears to be a cigarette burn, and headlights that were provided next to no visibility, amongst other findings. All that being said, as an S model, 14.5 was at the upper end of the blue book value, and so to consider the vehicle I began negotiating process as that value was assuming great condition, and I would hardly consider this to be great condition. After several trips back and forth to speak with the finance manager, we had come to a price of 13,100, 7000 on my trade leaving 2700 negative equity. I offered 3k downpayment. Lets do the math as follows: 13,100 2,700 negative equity 1,161 Tax, tag, title, and fees per document provided 16961 Out the door Price 3000 Down payment 13,961 Total Financed Now I was willing to accept those terms. However, the finance form brought back by Matt from the finance manager stated monthly payment amounts between 450 and 600 over 72 month financing term. Now if you do the math, even at the highest permissible interest rate of 25% APR, the payment would be $376 month for 72 months. I pointed out respectfully what must be a clerical error, and wrote out on paper to show Matt how this could not possibly add up. I inquired about the APR, which Matt stated was 25%. At this point, I was shocked and angered to hear that while he clearly saw that I was correct and agreed with me, he stated the finance manager wasn’t going to fix it. I asked again repeatedly, what do you mean? He isn’t going to fix it? The math is clearly incorrect? Several more times Matt shrugged and stated he was sorry, but this was all he could do, and the finance manager would not correct the statement. At this point, I had no choice but to leave empty handed and drive four hours back home with nothing. Now I know my credit score is not great. I had the unfortunate experience of an ex wife who ran off with my best man and destroyed my life in every way possible. Just when I started to get my life back on track, my best friend who had become my fiancé was killed by a drunk driver and died in my arms. I am a single father of four boys taking care of them all on my own now, who all have special needs attending 4 different schools spread over 100 miles. I drove all the way to Warner Robins because finding a 3 row vehicle with over 30 mpg has been like looking for a needle in a haystack. As I made the long trip home, it became very apparent that by refusing to fix the error means it was not an error at all, but an intentional attempt raise the selling price behind the finance curtain while keeping the customers attention on the monthly payment rather than the total amount financed. I have purchased many cars in the past, dealt with some wonderful dealers, and a few less reputable ones, so it is not the first time I have seen this trick. However, in all other experiences, while it is poor business to even attempt it, when caught by the consumer the price is rectified and the deal continues. Also of note, I have visited many dealerships exploring many options of late. At the start my credit score was over 600, after being run over and over, it was dropped significantly into the 500’s. However, I have been approved at every single dealer I have visited, at far less than 25% APR, I just simply decided the vehicle was not a good fit for my needs. Now you understand the details of what transpired and I am sure the review I have now posted on 7+ websites for Five Star Hyundai of Warner Robins makes perfect sense. Should you wish to rectify the situation in some way or form, I am open to discussion, however at this point it would take quite an offer to convince me to return or even consider doing business with a dealer employing such deceitful practices and with such poor customer service.
