We bought a used Jetta here and it was quite the adventure. Some of the good: - Everyone is always extremely friendly - Our VW sales guy seemed to really know the car well - The service depart adventure. Some of the good: - Everyone is always extremely friendly - Our VW sales guy seemed to really know the car well - The service department is middle-of-the-road. They don't seem very skilled but they are eager to please. Prices here aren't as steep as others. Some of the bad: - We purchased a 4 year-old pre-owned Jetta that, according to our family mechanic, should not have passed MD State Inspection. We should have checked the car more thoroughly, so we are partially to blame. - A little over a year later our car needed a $1300 engine repair - nothing was covered by the extended warranty we paid almost $3000 for. - Don't buy the warranty. See above. - My biggest complaint: they're impossible to reach once you leave the showroom. Our salesman was supposed to call us back twice regarding some questions we had in the showroom. He never called. The finance manager promised us two calls and we left 5 messages over 6 days. Didn't hear back until we asked for the general manager. We are still dealing with an issue and, as of today, have left a total of 9 messages which have not been returned. Bottom line, I probably wouldn't recommend buying a car here unless the price is insanely low and you have a high tolerance for annoyances like unreturned phone calls and having to convince the service tech that the horrible noise coming from the engine is not "normal". Note: I originally posted this under the Frederick Fitzgerald dealership rather than the Annapolis Frederick dealership. I have reposted this here, as this is the correct dealership. More
Went to the dealer to look at a new SportWagen TDI. Ended up not buying due to low trade in offered. 10% of original price for a 8year old car with average mileage? That thing aside, by the time I get home I up not buying due to low trade in offered. 10% of original price for a 8year old car with average mileage? That thing aside, by the time I get home I noticed they messed up the luggage cover. CAll them and they swore they have not touched it. HArd to swallow that explanation. Disappointing experience. This was my second new vehicle purchase from this dealership. Both experiences were excellent. Sales personnel are knowledgeable about the vehicles and the dealer's inventory. The 'no-haggle' approa dealership. Both experiences were excellent. Sales personnel are knowledgeable about the vehicles and the dealer's inventory. The 'no-haggle' approach is really a plus as well because you know what you are getting into and don't have to play the 'let me get my manager' and 'what would it take to get you into this vehicle today' games. Unlike places like Carmax - the sales staff here doesn't feel like an army of clones (with matching shirts). More
Tom Asher was a pleasure to deal with. Not only was he clearly knowledgeable about VW's generally, but, in particular, with the car I was interested in purchasing. He was clearly more concerned that I lef clearly knowledgeable about VW's generally, but, in particular, with the car I was interested in purchasing. He was clearly more concerned that I left the dealership with the car I wanted, rather than the one he wanted to sell me. I would recommend this dealership, and Tom in particular, to anyone! More
EVERY time I go to my favorite dealership (Fitzgerald in Annapolis), I only let one service representative, by the name of Scott Johnston, help me. I recently emailed him with the following: Hello Scott, Annapolis), I only let one service representative, by the name of Scott Johnston, help me. I recently emailed him with the following: Hello Scott, I wanted to let you know just how much I appreciated your help this morning. I trust you and Fitzgerald to give me the honest truth of what work needs to be done to my Passat. Even though Darcar suggested the work, I felt I wanted Fitzgerald to complete the service. You have always worked with me to prioritize the work. I want to let your manager know how thankful I am to have you as my service representative. Please forward this email to your manager. Good customer service is something that distinguishes the Fitzgerald team from all other dealerships! Thank you again, Carlene Lee He has been so much help to me during my unemployment and in my present situation. The dealership has always matched my coupons and I need and love that! Thank you to Scott and all the people who work there that makes it so efficient and a pleasure to have my Passat worked on. Carlene More
We bought a Golf here and love the quality and got a great and fair price. We take both our VW and Chevy here for service. Technicians are friendly, quick, and we will continue to bring both of our cars great and fair price. We take both our VW and Chevy here for service. I've had great experiences at Fitzgerald of Annapolis. My car is my baby, and the VW service department at Fitz is the only place where I feel comfortable dropping off my car. I needed to replace my 21 year old daughter's 2002 New Beetle, and given the list of options I gave her she chose the 2012 Jetta S. A coulple of weeks ago I went online to my car buying service and built Beetle, and given the list of options I gave her she chose the 2012 Jetta S. A coulple of weeks ago I went online to my car buying service and built the car. Three dealerships were contacted by the car buying service, and the first two presented offers slightly above invoice. Fitzgerald was the last to contact me, and I was begining to wonder if they would, but before long I received an email stating I would be receiving a phone call. The call came from Brett Grant who offered a price more than $1000 below invoice. They had the exact vehicle I wanted, including color, whereas the other two had "close but not exactly". I went in the next day and test drove the vehicle. Brett offered to show me any other vehicle on the lot, but never put any pressure on me. I liked the vehicle for my daughter, and put down a deposit to hold it while I secured financing form my credit union. Brett offered to run the numbers on financing through VW, but was more than understanding when I declined to use their financing. Again, no pressure. I returned the next day with my daughter and the financing. The process was quick and easy. No one played any games at any time. Not once did I hear "underbody coating". They of course offered the extended warranty and service plan, but when I declined they dropped it immediately. No pressure. I met with the business guy (sorry...forgot his name) briefly to sign all of the paperwork for title and such, again no pressure to buy warranties or paint protectant or anything of that nature. Brett is an enthusiastic VW fan himself, and he seemed to be genuinely excited to show my daughter how to use her new car. From start to finish, this was one of the easiest and most enjoyable car buying experience I have had. More
