I went to buy a car. I knew exactly what I needed. It was difficult to find on the lot because the battery was dead and needed jumped. So we go inside to start the proces I knew exactly what I needed. It was difficult to find on the lot because the battery was dead and needed jumped. So we go inside to start the process after a short test drive. It was very clinical and not at all friendly. Awkward would be an understatement on Colton's behalf. I am fine with that, though it is not a great look for someone in sales. Where you lose me is I was told to go to the bank and get my check because things would be quick(for the record, the vehicle was running outside from the moment we went into start until after I got back from the bank...over an hour). Except they were not quick and after 3 hours, we were told there as a title issue. What reputable company has a vehicle listed with a title discrepancy? We needed the car that day and if we were told early, this would have been an issue we could have handled. But like I said, I was told to go to the bank so it was never a thought despite us making very clear we needed the car that day. Colton also had mentioned just prior to the title news that the battery would need replaced and the service department was backed up so it could be awhile. Again, we needed the car that day and if we had known before, it could have been managed. Nothing for over three hours. We were given a loaner to use until the vehicle was ready but there was no real communication at this point. As in, Colton took us to the service area and explained we needed a loaner. I was asked to provide my license and sign something, and given a key. There was no explanation of what I signed or walk around the vehicle. With all the people, without masks, and a pregnant wife, I was left speaking loudly just to verify the next steps with Colton before he disappeared. It was a rushed, frustrating experience I wish I had stopped right there. He seemed very disinterested and was only our sales person because he was standing just outside the entrance we used initally. See. We needed the car then we got no sleep. That hurt us for the entire week then there was minor damage to the loaner which put me out 3k. I paid the bill but a solid dealership would have dropped the price of the sale since we should have been in it the first day. Or they would have offered to pay some of the damages. Nothing so they lost a sale. I was not going to pay for the car and the repairs as that is essentially double dipping when every bit of it was due to their incompetence. The meaning of needing the vehicle that day is quite simple to understand. If that was not possible, cool but don't waste my time so all other options are exhausted by the time you tell me. That is a shady tactic but maybe this is how Fitzgerald operates. Once upon a time, I bought a new car from Fitzgerald in Frederick. That car was over 15 years old when I sold it. That experience was a necessity too...and it was great. This time, honestly, the worst car experience I have ever had and I have had some rough ones that includes a service light on twenty minutes after leaving the lot and another dealer changing the terms of a deal while saying my deposit was not refundable. If anyone cares to make this right from Fitzgerald, then I will update my review. More
