On September 13th I took my 2015 Honda Civic to First Texas Honda on 3400 Steck Ave. In Austin Texas to replace a broken lug nut stud on my left front wheel. I purchased the lug nut stud from their p Texas Honda on 3400 Steck Ave. In Austin Texas to replace a broken lug nut stud on my left front wheel. I purchased the lug nut stud from their parts department for $3. Next I went to their service department to get a price to replace the broken lug nut stud. After about 20 minutes of explaining to me that a shield and wheel bearing needed to be replaced before they changed the broken stud, they gave me a price on $1,128.69 to make the repair. I said I will let you know. I went to a family owned repair shop and they gave me a price of $174. They said the shield and bearing did not need to be changed. I then went to Brownie's Automotive in Austin and they gave me a price of $120. They also said the shield and bearing did not need to be changed. Brownie's completed the repair in about 20 minutes. Brownie's has a 5 star rating. It has been 43 days and about 25K miles since the repair and I have not had any problems. I saved $1,008.69 About 2 1/2 years ago I took my 2009 Civil to the same Honda dealership to get a sales price on a oil change. They told me that I needed to replace the front motor mount on the passenger side for $450. That same motor mount was changed about 3 weeks before by a family owned repair shop for $250. In both situations I am convinced that First Texas Honda intentionally told me that I needed repairs that I didn't need at inflated prices. More

My service adviser Fred Mathis is always very attentive and answers all my questions, I will always ask for him and know that I can depend on him for great service work. It's my 3rd visit to First Texas Honda, after getting a 2019 Pilot 1.5 years ago. You've made an appointment, and they pull up all your service records on the tablet, and go over what they will be checking and doing maintenance on. They listen to my concerns, we make a plan, and they give me the price estimate right then. (And it was "spot on" -- nothing unexpected.) They let me know what is coming up to consider for maintenance, and since I want to drive my vehicle 200,000 miles -- I listen. (Service Manager was Chad). More
