I recently bought my son a 2018 Honda Accord EX-L from First Texas Honda. We went to the dealer for a test drive, but I intended to buy from a private seller. Right off the bat, Sal Ahmed, our sales consultant, offered us a $2,000 discount, turning a fair deal into a special one at $17.5k. Sal was knowledgeable and relaxed – he made the buying process too easy. I ran basic diagnostics with my OBD scanner on the car and got a clean report. We bought the vehicle "as is" and drove it home. However, within 24 hours, a check engine light came on, and the cruise control stopped working. I was anxious about what I would hear, probably "That is terrible, but you bought the car ‘as is’. I texted Sal and drove the car back. The response at First Texas Honda was remarkable. Sal assured me not to worry, and the General Manager, Sunny Rathore, did the same. They said their focus is on relationships rather than revenue alone. They took the car into the shop and provided a loaner at no cost. The issue was a faulty wiring harness -- an expensive fix, which they handled at no charge to me. When I picked up the Accord, it drove better than it did during the first time out. Sal and the team there went above and beyond. Their prices were reasonable, and the processes were easy. They wanted me to be happy with the outcome before and after the sale. Their approach felt like a business-as-usual decision – I did not have to persuade or negotiate. It was more than service recovery it was a service home run. The entire buying process took about two weeks, during which we visited the dealership around four times. Each interaction reinforced my impression that they genuinely practice integrity and exceptional customer service. I highly recommend Sal Ahmed, Sales Consultant, Sunny Rathore, GM, and the team at First Texas Honda. Amazing response beyond words from the entire service team (Fred, Chad and Luis) on a very difficult to find, unusual and unexpected issue that happened on my 2018 CRV - new battery drain overnight. First, the most specialist advisor Fred brought to my place right away (at a late hour Good Friday) a brand new Honda CR-V Hybrid Sport loaner (leather seats, 400 mi). The mentioned team carefully and professionally checked separately each circuit, updated the software and kept the car several days under observation. The breakthru finding is very important, it was not the battery (although they replaced it, under warranty) but a CHIP defect in the keyless entry control unit (all repairs were at low cost). I wish the repair took longer :), that Hybrid loaner was amazing. I was being kept informed all this time, then I was shown on site how they worked. To also mention the Customer Service call center, always promptly and friendly answering the calls (Ms Kenya is showing extra care, understanding and immediate follow up, Zoe is very positive, friendly and caring each time). The car loaner dept is showing similar great positive and friendly service (Matt, Jason). Never to ignore the warm and complex "Starbucks-style" complimentary beverages and snacks service while waiting on site, in nice environment. Honda may have (like any car) these types of unusually rare issues (shown by the "the tough reliability tests" in the rough Southern climate or a hidden bug in their chips) but it is the EXTRA MILE beyond any reproach and thinking (I could have not imagined a better way) that The First Texas Honda team handled it in a super caring, friendly and professional manner this case and reinstated the confidence in this car brand. Honda Roadside Assistance sent a wrecker to tow us into First Texas Honda. They gave us a loner car, checked out the CRV, ran diagnostics, and could not find anything wrong. Picked it up the next day and driving home it did the same thing again. I texted our First Honda service rep Bobby Mills and told him what was going on. This time Roadside Assistance would only take us to a Honda dealer in South Austin where they said it would be at least a week to get the car looked at and no loaner was available. "You're on your own to get home," they told us. Minutes later, I get a call from Bobby. He's got a driver and a technician on their way to meet us. The driver will take us back to First Texas Honda where he's got a loaner already booked for us and the tech will drive the car back to the dealership. The tech had the same engine dying difficulty and had to be towed in but he saw what was going on with the car. Three days later, they had the car repaired with a new Throttle Body assembly installed. Two techs drove the car, one drove it over 40 miles, the other just to make sure it ran properly for 15 miles. I have never, in my life, experienced such concern and attention given to me, a customer, by any business in my life especially when it comes to cars. First Texas Honda has a culture of superior service delivery. Their entire staff appears to share in it fully and it's genuine. I happily recommend them to anyone considering buying a Honda. The dealer does make a difference! More
