First Coast Auto Sales responded

This customer purchased the vehicle 5 months ago. He was issued a 3 month 3200 mile written warranty at the time of purchase. I reviewed his file and he initialed the warranty 7 times and signed the bottom. In addition he currently has a credit on his account for free service in our shop. He has never used any of his free service credit. We carefully select the vehicles we offer for sale and recondition them to an written standard that we publish publically on our website. Unfortunately, we cannot predict future failures of items such as a water pump. This is why we first warranty what we sell, then give every customer a credit to use in our shop for repairs and continue to provide excellent mechanical service throughout our customers' entire term of ownership. However, it is impossible to assist a customer with his issue, if he chooses to seek assistance elsewhere. We are sorry he did not seek the excellent service we were prepared to provide, and instead chose to post a negative review 4 months later. Hopefully in the future he will come to us first and experience more the excellent customer service he enjoyed when he bought his car.

I cannot properly respond to this complaint since the information provided does not tell me who this guy's wife was or what type of vehicle she purportedly purchased. What I am sure about is we have never sold and financed any vehicle for $20,000 in the 45 years we have been in business. We are focused on selling affordable vehicles with our most expensive vehicles priced at no more than $16,995. With regard to the 30% interest, this gentleman's accusation is false. Unlike most of our competition, we do not base our rates on the Statutory Maximum, we base it on each customer's individual credit rating. Even if this guy's wife had the worst credit ever, we would never charge 30%. I am also sure the customer did not have mechanical issues as her husband says she did. All of our vehicles are reconditioned to our Retail Ready Standard and come with a written warranty. In addition, every customer is given a $100.00 credit to use in our shop for what ever he/she wishes. For example, had a bumper cover come loose or window switch went out as described, this customer could have brought the car in and had it fixed using the credit. Our warranty would have covered the motor. Finally, it is my belief this complaint is probably a fabrication. James Perkins was a manager, not a sales person as portrayed in this complaint. Most puzzling is the fact Mr. Perkins has not worked here in well over a year. First Coast has always prided itself on selling good cars and giving good service. It is disappointing to have someone take such a cheap shot. However, if this gentleman has legitimate concerns he wishes to address, I will be more than happy to personally sit down and address each and every one he wishes to have addressed.
