I took my car in for extended warranty repair of AC. After dropping off my car I received a call stating that the problem with the AC was part of the warranty extension & that they would fix everything After dropping off my car I received a call stating that the problem with the AC was part of the warranty extension & that they would fix everything & call me when it was done. I received another call a couple of hours later saying the part in question was not an OE Honda part so the warranty wouldn't cover the repair & in order to fix the problem would cost me $2550+. I decided to take my car to my regular, reputable mechanic who right away noticed that the AC system wasn't connected electronically & other parts of the system not together. The part in question was, in fact, OE Honda that was verified with the serial number & I snapped a photo for proof. I went back to the dealership to speak with the service manager & showed the photo of the part still in the car & he still refused to honor the warranty. I was told that other things were wrong as well & that if I had a third party extended warranty, he could get the car fixed without billing me. In disbelief that the photo of the part in the engine with the serial number showing wasn't enough, I called the general manager letting him know that I didn't appreciate the bait & switch. That caught some attention & finally it was agreed that I could get my vehicle fixed under warranty. Another problem with the part popped up that suddenly wasn't part of the warranty & they needed to charge me for replacement of the part. I finally just said ok because I needed my vehicle & got charged nearly $600, on top of the almost $300 I had to pay my mechanic to look at it & determine that I was being lied to. The job got done, the air blows cold for the time being. I was never treated rudely, but there are some trustworthiness issues here. I shouldn't have to take my car somewhere else to find out that the dealership straight-faced lied to me & try to milk me for thousands of dollars more. I used to have trust in the Findlay brand, but this one pretty much ruined it. More
