You must be a sharp-eyed buyer, but I think that probably applies to any car dealer, so this is probably just the status quo. That said, once I finally found a used car to buy, after we negotiated a price, the cost breakdown included a "Findlay Package" that cost--SUPRISE!--just as much as we negotiated down. I told them I wasn't paying it, and they said it's what it cost to tint the windows, so on and so forth before it was for sale. But why am I responsible for what they did to the car before I got there? I finally got it cut in half, but honestly I should have just walked out and almost did. I don't like people treating me like I'm stupid. Things like that should be reflected in the price of the car. It probably was, but they negotiated! That's not on me! They also tried to sneak in the documentation fee twice. Also aggravating, the salesman said I didn't need my outside approved loan because Honda would match any interest rate. As I found out at the bitter end, no they will not! I'm refinancing immediately, and quite annoyed that I have to do this extra work. Be a wise buyer. Check every fee, check their math, know your obligations and theirs. I'm certain I got scammed somewhere in this 19-page mess of paperwork and am probably owed some money back. We'll see. In the end, there's nothing special about Findlay. After all, when it all comes down to it, they're car salesmen. More
