I went into this buying experience having done all my homework about dealer fair profit offer, dealer true net vehicle cost, and the common scams that dealers and salesmen try to get away with to pad the homework about dealer fair profit offer, dealer true net vehicle cost, and the common scams that dealers and salesmen try to get away with to pad their revenue and enhance their commission. I was looking at a 2021 4Runner TRD Pro, which I know is a popular vehicle. From the get go, working with Andrew Heinemann was a truly irritating and dubious experience. Not only was communication sporadic and sent from a yahoo account on a cell phone, but the vehicle OTD (out the door) cost breakdown sheet was filled with markups, and added "extras," so I kept sending them back to him, asking for these items to be removed. I was originally given the Toyota MSRP spec sheet (from the website) and eventually, an actual Larry Miller vehicle cost sheet that had an additional $399 dealer markup on that MSRP, in addition to other items mentioned below. I have emails (which I wish I could upload here) of Andrew telling me "he has to sell the car with pulse lighting and the additional theft protection" - he literally says, he can't sell the car without it. When I called him on this nonsense by showing him forum articles about scam, he responded “sorry for the confusion.” At that point, I knew I was dealing with a dishonest car salesman with little integrity. From there, I began the looking at what competitors could offer and started the negotiation process of trying to arrive at fair profit offer ($50k out the door and doc fee waived). Based on 2020 dealer invoice numbers for this year model and trim, it is fair to assume LHM Toyota Spokane paid approx $46k with holdback, rebates and incentives. A fair profit offer is anywhere between 3-5%. When I spoke to their General Manager, he tells me my calculations "are irrelevant" as if I cannot read the wealth of consumer information available on the internet, and am required to pay MSRP no questions asked, to which I responded, “no, that is what an informed consumer does.“ Even a 5% offer (on $46k + $1175 delivery fee) would be approximately $49,533. So 50K and asking to waive the doc fee, is fair instead of paying full MSRP ($51,645). With commission involved, they wanted about a 9.5% profit margin. I get that the vehicle is popular, but that doesn't give a dealer the right to price gouge. I ended up deciding that waiting is better and will likely go with another competitor once these vehicles end up on the market and I can get the 2021 model sometime next year. This review does not include the other members of LHM Toyota Spokane. When I did a test drive, I had a good experience with Matt Delgado. Consumers need to be aware that paying MSRP + for a vehicle is not right and when salesmen and dealers try to strong arm the customer into buying a vehicle at MSRP, they should wait or go elsewhere. My biggest complaint is integrity - having a salesman who is not honest with you, who lies, and tells you that they need to add upgrades in order to sell a vehicle is a major red flag. In the end, I ended up putting the purchase on hold but learned an incredible amount of information about the car buying process, becoming an informed consumer and certain LHM Sales Staff. When I do purchase, it will likely not be LHM Toyota and certainly not through a salesman that exhibits tactics like Andrew's. More

Took my Camry in for cruise control issue. They said I was there for AC issue but were willing to see me anyway. 5.5 hours later (their manual said job should take a bit under one hour) I got the car back was there for AC issue but were willing to see me anyway. 5.5 hours later (their manual said job should take a bit under one hour) I got the car back after they said they'd replaced the switch behind the brake pedal and tested it. $130 for a small plastic switch. Started home and found cruise control still didn't work. Called next day; was told next step is to replace a piece in steering wheel; almost $400. Seems their method is to just keep replacing parts and charging for them until they hit the right one. Called my regular mechanic; he said if the part doesn't cure the problem, then reinstall the old one. You be the judge. Only positive side was they waived some labor charges. More
