I was working with Trey Roberts to purchase a 2021 Kia Soul Turbo DCT with 23,835 miles. My credit union (Peach State Federal Credit Union) fully approved financing on February 14, 2025, and the only step left was for the dealership to update the paperwork to reflect my credit union as the lienholder. Despite this, the vehicle was sold without any prior notice, even though financing was already in place. After this mishandling, I was asked by Franklin Waters to find another vehicle, which I did. However, despite my clear interest in purchasing, the dealership failed to take action to secure it. I later found out—by contacting another dealership in their network—that the second vehicle was sold on February 21, days after Mr. Waters was supposedly “looking into it” for me. No one at Fields Mazda informed me about this, proving that there was never any real intent to assist me in securing a vehicle. What made this experience worse was the complete lack of response from management. I sent multiple emails to General Manager George Vogt, but he never responded. I also called Franklin Waters several times and left multiple messages, but he never returned my calls. Instead of addressing my concerns, they sent Trey Roberts (a new salesperson) to call me on February 26, rather than handling the situation professionally themselves. This entire process was unprofessional and avoidable. A serious buyer should not have to chase management for answers or find out on their own that a vehicle they were waiting on has been sold. If Fields Mazda had communicated properly and honored my financing approval, this situation would not have happened. I hope this dealership takes customer service and transparency more seriously in the future. I would not recommend Fields Mazda of Asheville to anyone expecting professionalism and accountability. Typically friendly staff. For 10k inspections forgot to add windshield washer fluid yet texted video all completed. Wonder what else missed. For current visit & past visits there is strong odor of perfume inside the vehicle. It made me nauseous. Someone with perfume in their hands touched steering wheel & the odor clinked to my skin & clothes. Had to use rubbing alcohol to remove. Will be sure to ask in next visit no perfume in vehicle. More
