We Had the truck back in the dealership repair shop 3 times in less than a month. First time was engine light on and a leaking windshield they fixed the check engine light then put silicone on the windshield. I decided to call a windshield repair expert to look at it as the leak was not fixed they needed to replace the windshield as just putting silicone on it only let dirt and water in and could not ever be properly repaired after that, i was told the truck was sold as is and they couldnt do anything else without payment. Second time was another check engine light that was repaired. Third time was after the transfer case went out on the highway i really didn't want to take it back to there questionable repair shop but the trash warranty they offer only allows you to take the vehicle in for repair to a shop of your choice if you are 50 miles away or further otherwise you have no choice but the dealer. after a few days was told the truck was fixed they just needed to test drive it was called back and told that now the drive shaft was bad and the warranty didn't cover it and it would cost $400 I told them to put it back together and I will come pick it up. After taking my truck to a reputable mechanic I was told the truth that the drive shaft on the the 2004 truck was actually for a 1999 therfore going over 60mph caused the brake in the transfer case. Family trucks and vans was about to charge me to put the wrong part on again and just wait until the same thing happened so I would have to take it back to them for more repairs. CROOKS! I WILL GO OUT OF MY WAY TO RECOMMEND PEOPLE NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. Wish I could give them 0 stars Stay away!!!!! More

They gave us the run around on who can fix it from taking back to them then taking it to Affordable Transmissions. They couldn't find anything wrong with it but it broke down and the engine light was on. Code was pulled which was for the transmission. We took it back and the same thing again...everything is fine but another code was pulled. We took it to our mechanic to have a diagnostic and the brake code was fixed but they said the transmission code was still there. So AGAIN we took it back to Affordable Transmissions which they said then they said it was just the transmission switch so they replaced that after a week and a half waiting for there lame warrenty place to get back to the Transmission place. This took over 6 months for something to be done on the transmission after getting the run around. In-between that 4 months after purchasing it the brakes system went out and the rotors in the back we deteriorated so bad that they were cracked almost through the whole rotor. Our mechanic said we are lucky we didn't get into an accident and that was the WORST condition they had ever seen a rotor and that someone put the wrong fluid in the break line. We had to replace the rotors, brakes, calipers and flush the brake line for $1500 and pray that the wrong fluid did mess it up any more or else the brake line will need to be striped and replaced which would be close to $3000 to fix. This just goes to show that family trucks and vans do NOT thouroughly check their vehicles before placing on the lot or this would not have happened. Now 3 weeks since they replaced the transmission switch it broke down again... Every time we have called we get told to speak to this person but conviently they didn't answer so we left a message only for them to give that messege to the mechanic people who don't know very much...When we finally did get ahold of someone to complain about the terrible vehicle they sold us they have nothing to say and cannot do anything for you since it is now with the bank. This is the worst dealership to do business with and I will never go back to them or The Sharpest Rides. IF you want a vehicle that LASTS please go somewhere else. They only want your money for a xxxxty car and they know to begin with. More

The salesman was very nice and helpful with my purchase..however that was the only nice part about my visit. In another building is the finance people..who are careless and very rude. One week after our purchase we had to purchase new tires..which we knew we had too at the deal..but it was the hidden truth we found out about this vehicle when we took it to a tire place to put on the tires. We found out the ball joint was completely out..which added our bill to about 500$ then also the shocks were completely blown as well is was another 2000$. I took the estimate into the finance manager and he blew me off completely said that they do a full inspection before sale and if the shocks were blown it was our fault. Yeah our fault in one week to blow shocks!!! He told us he would look at them but he said the tire shop was lying. I'm not really sure how you can do a full inspection and also not do an oil change..so now I know they were the liars. He said if the shocks are blown he would fix them..not on their bill but would charge me 500$ for them. Wow..how do you sleep at night. Please byer beware..and avoild this place at all costs!! Hand shakes mean nothing to these unscrupulous people Once I found a truck I liked their website, my wife and I drove down to see it and take if for a test drive. I met with Juan who informed me before I even got behind the wheel that the power steering box was going out and that it was scheduled for repair tomorrow. While driving, it was obvious the power steering box needed replacement but since I was told it was already scheduled to be fixed I didn't concern myself with it. What I did notice was the antenna housing was broken and as such it dangled off to the side. When I mentioned that to him he said "No problem, we'll take care of that for you." After the test drive I decided I liked the truck and wanted to negotiate price. The rear tires were getting bald and so I asked if they would be willing to come down on the price to compensate for the cost of new tires. He then gave me a breakdown of the things they were going to do. He said, the power steering box would be fixed, the antenna housing would be fixed and there was a hubcap missing they would throw a new one on for me, plus they would give me $500.00 off toward new tires. Bringing the total for the truck down to $8,500.00. I felt this was fair and I said I'd take it. We started the paperwork and being so late in the night, we had to wait until the next day to get financing pushed through. Once the financing portion was completed and terms were agreed on, he told me the cost of the truck just went up by $1,500.00! When I expressed my shock and asked why, he said it was because of all the work they did to repair it. When I reminded him of the hand shake agreement we had for all the repairs and the $500.00 off for tires bringing the purchase price to $8,500.00 he said "Yeah, but nothing was written down on paper, so we can change the price if we want to." I then re checked the website, and sure enough, the truck I was already approved for and price agreed on and paperwork started had been changed on their website to reflect the newly raised price. In other words, they will lie right to your face and then rub it in after the fact and not care about ethics or customer satisfaction in any regard. This company is unethical and unscrupulous. Hand shakes mean nothing to Juan and I don't know how he and his cronies sleep at night. They will certainly NOT get any of my business now or in the future. Avoid at all cost! More
Lied to me, sold me a broken vehicle I bought a box can from them and was told by me sales man that it had a full inspection and was in good working order. Come to find out they never loo I bought a box can from them and was told by me sales man that it had a full inspection and was in good working order. Come to find out they never looked at it but rather bought it and placed it on their lot for sale. I had problem after problem with the vehicle and was told that if the transmission needed replaced they would unwind the deal. We'll they sent it to their transmission shop who stated the transmission was no good. They then ripped me of and moved $ around on the new vehicle to make it look as if they were helping me when they were really stealing from me. When I brought this to their Attention they lied some more. Do NOT waste your $ or time with a shady dealership and shady salesmen. Julian their manager is the biggest crook of them all. BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE ..... Don't be scammed... More

Went to family truck and van, where I was greeted by about 6 sweaty men drinking monster energy drinks. when found the salesman that I talked to a few days prior I had to take about 5 laps around the lot with him until we finally located the truck I made the appointment to see. The salesman had very little information on the truck. I felt like I was telling him the specs, I also had to tell him the radio tuner and air conditioner didn't work, I told him a common problem with the model and year was that the radiator leaks fluid into the transmission causing it to fail. He pretended he didn't know anything about that though. I took it for a test drive and within 2 miles I could tell something was very wrong with the transmission. This dealership was asking 2500 dollars over the kbb value for a vehicle that was nearly undriveable. It seems they make their money by tricking people into buying unreliable cars for top dollar, knowing they will be getting paid to fix them soon. More
Found a vehicle I liked on KBB.com and contacted this dealership via email. Was able to set a time to meet and test drive the SUV I was interested in. Of course staff was very polite as they are trying t dealership via email. Was able to set a time to meet and test drive the SUV I was interested in. Of course staff was very polite as they are trying to make a sale. Unfortunately their location is off Broadway where the speed limit is only 35mph, so you are truly unable to get a good feel for the vehicle. But I didn't think about that when I was there, only thought about it after I bought it and the next day on the highway the transmission wouldn't shift gears past 40mph. Immediately called Family Trucks and Vans and was told someone would get back to me. So while waiting for a return call I go to pick up my kids from school and the car won't start. Instead of turning over it was making a loud screeching metal on metal sound. They tell me to bring the car back and they will fix. I had to beg for a loaner from them and they gave me a HHR milk truck, which had no back seats and I have 3 kids. I mention this to them and they say that's all they had. So I took it, had it for 5 days when they called to let me know my SUV was fixed and I could come pick up. So driving home from dealership in my car on Broadway doing the speed limit of 35mph, get on the highway and the car won't shift past 40mph. Called FT&V's again and they told me to bring back the next day, which I did. This time they gave me a mini van that smelled like 10 ashtrays and had gooey red stuff all over seats and floor. But once again kids and I make do. They have my car for an additional 5 days and call me to come pick up. Of course when I pick up it doesn't shift past 40mph. I called them back and scheduled another time for my car to be in their shop. This time they give me a Kia Sportage as a loaner. They told me they were going to have to send my car to an actual Transmission shop to have the transmission repaired. I told dealership I would need something in writing stating that the repairs were going to be made to the vehicle and that the repairs would have a warranty. So they wrote up a service agreement and had me sign. I asked for a copy of it and they said their copy machine was down and they would mail my copy to me the next day. Never received a copy, a response to my email about the copy or a return phone call. So I'm driving the Kia and on the 4th day attempting to leave my sons football practice the Kia, their loaner car won't start. I get it jumped and started and the check engine light is on. I immediately call Family Trucks and Vans again, for them to say, "Oh, your trucks repairs have been completed, we will come and swap out cars." Which was great, but why the heck did they not call me and let me know my truck was ready for pick up? Why did it take me calling them? So during the those 3 weeks the bank that financed me had been calling to finalize the loan and said they are unable to pay the dealership until I have possession of the vehicle being financed. So I was happy my car was finally fixed, was taken to actual transmission shop and had a warranty. I decide to be a nice person and call the bank to let them know the vehicle was on its way to being delivered to me and to go ahead and finalize the loan, when I am told by the bank that they already finalized because they were told by the dealership that I had possession of the vehicle all along. I was livid. I started questioning if any repairs had ever been made, were they only try to pacify me so they could get there money? So they bring me car and I ask for the warranty on the repairs, the guy driving car said he knew nothing about it and would have someone call. I end up calling every couple days and emailing them and finally receive a response via email stating no warranty was issued because no repairs were ever made to the transmission as it was just a sensor misfiring. Which could've been, but why the xxxx are they so xxxx sneaky and so late to respond to a simple question. Simple questions have simple answers unless you are being untruthful. So I decide to eat it up, not let them ruin me and just know never to go back to this lying, deceitful, poorly ran dealership until...... it was time to get my license plates from the motor vehicle department and couldn't even do that because an emissions test has not been preformed on this vehicle in 4 years. I am at my boiling point with this company. Don't take a chance with them, it will only cause unneeded stress and worry. More
