Salesman (Dan O'Hannon) didn't push another vehicle at me (which I appreciated), but when I asked if they had something similar available, he told me about another car he thought I might like. I came in and test drove the vehicle and really liked it. There was a possible issue--I thought that maybe the tires had an alignment issue--but they put it up on the rack and checked for me and discovered that there was a small flat spot where the car had been sitting on the lot for a lengthy time. They were right. It smoothed out almost immediately. I told Dan that there was another vehicle that I was planning to test drive, so he wrote up an estimate for me for the "drive off the lot" price for this car, which was very helpful for me when at the other dealership considering the second car. I didn't have a good experience at the second dealership (in their defense they were really swamped) and didn't like the car as well. Knowing the price of the car at Fairfax Motors, I was able to make a firm "take it or leave it" offer for second car. If they met the price, I would be willing to put up with the things I liked less for the money saved. They couldn't meet the price, so I thanked them and went back to Fairfax Motors. Due to the time lost at Dealer #2, the people at Fairfax Motors had to stay overtime to finish the paperwork for me. They really went above and beyond to make sure the whole process was as painless as possible, never tried to rush or hurry me, and worked with me to get the necessary information when I realized I had forgotten to bring along my insurance info (and that business office was closed by now). The cost I paid turned out to be several hundred dollars under the original estimate, which told me that they were honest (and that the estimate really was an estimate) and not trying to squeeze me for everything they could. Really happy with the car, and really appreciate these people. More

I drove out to Fairfax from Spotsylvania, yes it was a drive, but, very well worth it! Great customer service with a quick and easy process! I am now driving the fully loaded SUV I've been searching for with a great price! Quick, Easy, No Pressure I was hesitant to go to a small dealership and dreading the buying process but Fairfax Motors made the car buying experience delightfully easy. I came in to test drive a BMW and was able to drive on my own while Pauline worked with another customer. I wasn't ready to buy that day and Pauline was happy to provide her card and let me know I could call if I had any questions. Laura in the finance office quickly worked up a rate and monthly quote for me based on an online application and phone call; again, no pressure. They even found a better rate when I threw out the CarMax rate I had gotten previously. My husband returned the next day to test drive and again, no pressure. I called John to determine the final price and ask that the documents be ready for me to sign when I arrived to purchase. John, Pauline and Laura had everything ready to go for me. With 4 kids in tow I didn't want to wait long to finalize the purchase. There were no hidden fees or loopholes. I was really impressed with how easy it was to buy a car at Fairfax Motors and how friendly everyone was. I returned about a week later to get my tags and they were happy to put them on for me. I give the dealer 4 stars because my car only had one key and I wasn't notified about a missing key prior to purchase. I may have negotiated the cost of getting a replacement key ($300 for a bimmer) into the purchase price had I known. More

VERY Disappointed!! I purchase a new vehicle every 2-years so I'm VERY tuned in to the process, I'm about the most laid back person you can meet probably to my fault with I purchase a new vehicle every 2-years so I'm VERY tuned in to the process, I'm about the most laid back person you can meet probably to my fault with this experience. This isn't an angry review just a VERY disappointed review in what had the potential to be a good experience given the correct professionalism and attentiveness. The salesman I dealt with (Pat) is a very nice and polite individual but is on the short end of the stick in the area of professionalism and attentiveness when it comes to the customer currently in front of him!! I was there ready and prepared to purchase a $37,000 vehicle, while sitting at Pat's desk he's kept answering the business phone interrupting our conversation (I could understand that if shorthanded), but the truly annoying part was he also kept answering his personal cellphone and texting during our interaction. He told me he had another customer that flew up from Florida and was waiting to purchase a vehicle (OK), he told me people routinely fly in from around the country to by vehicles from Fairfax Motors. He also went on to state he had an additional customer also waiting, I'm sorry I am I interrupting something?? Long story short after crunching numbers (in between all of the interruptions) my next statement really stumped him when I said my primary residence is in Florida and that's where the vehicle needs to be registered. Pat stated he wasn't sure how that would work that he didn't know how to calculate Florida sales tax and came up with a ridiculous amount. I said hold on and went to my vehicle and gave him my paperwork from the transaction on my current vehicle that was purchased in Florida 1-year ago showing how sales tax is calculated, he said he still couldn't figure it out while texting on his phone. There was no desire to find a definitive answer, definitive suggestion or even to sell me a vehicle, I quite honestly was taken back. But wait a minute, Pat just told me he had a customer that just flew up from Florida to purchase a vehicle that was waiting for him (maybe that commission was bigger) so HOW IN THE WORLD would the dealership NOT know how to calculate Florida Sales Tax. Additionally, remembering his statement to me that people fly in from all over to purchase vehicles from Fairfax Motors yet they don't know how to calculate sales tax from another state????? That's when I figured I was in the wrong place, BUYING a vehicle let alone a $37,000 vehicle shouldn't be that difficult and the customer surely shouldn't have to "prod" the salesman to get the deal done as a favor. Being a business owner myself this interaction obviously had a lasting impression, I later said to my wife that if that was an employee that worked for us there would be a come to Jesus meeting about customer service practices and professional strategies when dealing with customers. As a suggestion I make my employees take on-line certification course in the "Art of the Sale" and how it all starts with the "First Impression." Sure I'm from Florida and this won't have an effect on the dealership's bottom line at the end of the day, but it sure is a shame that I felt compelled enough to have to write this rather lengthy review when I'm actually NOT a huge fan of reviews. If I don't like the steak at a particular restaurant I'll turn to my wife and tell her I don't like the steak and don't feel as though I need to write a bad review. As a business owner you are NEVER going to make every customer happy, but good lord this transaction wasn't rocket science and there were NO outlying expectations. Unfortunately in this case I just couldn't let it go, obviously another Virginia/Maryland dealership will end up benefitting from my $37,000 which is all the same to me other than I lost over an hour of my life that I wouldn't mind having back! Living in Florida I have only ever dealt with "branded" car dealerships (BMW, Toyota, Mercedes, etc.) as we don't have nearly as many "stand alone" private dealerships as Virginia and Maryland, so maybe this is normal and I'm the one that's out of my professional element. All that I can attest to considering I have purchased over 21 vehicles in my life is that this is my first TRULY bad experience buying (or attempting to buy in this case) a vehicle, maybe I just need to stick with the branded dealerships, you know what they say it only takes one bad apple to ruin it for everyone! Sure would like to know if this is the norm for these private standalone dealerships in this area??? More
Awesome experience, nice fun people! I had been looking for a Honda S2000 for months and came across one in Fairfax Motors. Being out of state, I had a family member go on my behalf to ch I had been looking for a Honda S2000 for months and came across one in Fairfax Motors. Being out of state, I had a family member go on my behalf to check the car out. Patrick was the Sales person that helped us out and he was just fantastic. Gave my cousin the keys and let him check out the car as long as he wanted with no haggle. When the car checked out, Pat was in constant communication with me as we were negotiating the deal along with making arrangements for pick up. I finally flew over there to check the car out my self and purchase it. When I got there Pat was just as charismatic and helpful as he was over the phone and email. They really make you feel at home there. I had made some last minute requests as well, such has asking to lift the car after their body shop closed. They got it up for me anyway with no problem and let me check out the bottom of the car. After purchasing the car I had a long 14 hour car ride back to FL. The car performed great and Pat even gave me a follow up call to see how the trip went. Great guy and great experience overall. I would recommend checking them out!
