Great First Impression - Disappointing Purchace My initial reaction and review during July 2017 was a much more positive one. The staff, especially Pauline Ball, were friendly and informative enough to make the car buying process less painful than it typically is. My old car had gotten hit and totaled so I opted for a 2008 Scion Tc that they had one there lot. I did notice that this is typically not the type of vehicle they carry at their dealership. In all I was pretty please with the quality of the car and my overall experience. I rated Fairfax Motors on this very site with a generous 4 star review. Fast forward 9 months and I have very different view of this dealership. Basically, after only 9 months my engine is completely ruined and I had to purchase another vehicle YET AGAIN. With my Scion there was a HUGE oil consumption problem and possible an issue with the piston rings. The engine had finally given out after draining oil almost as fast as I could replace it. This is with getting oil changes and putting QUARTS of oil in myself. At the dealership Pauline had claimed to have driven this very car herself on multiple occasions. The picture was painted as if the car had no issues when in reality oil consumption issues started on its slippery slope just weeks after the very first oil change. I am still curious as to how they were able to mask such an issue! I understand there is research that must be done before purchasing a car, but for a dealership who claims to be prestigious and sell luxury used cars of a high caliber, I would have expected them to be more transparent or at least knowledgeable about the sub-par condition of the vehicles they are selling. After reviewing Yelp there were others who did reviews as recent as 2017, who also had similar complaints of withheld information on the true state of the car they were sold. I was planning to return to this business for my next car purchase but I know longer trust the reputation they have. They're cars are overpriced, over valued, and the processing fees are significantly higher than other used dealerships. Do not be fooled by the location or the facade, I would check, check, and recheck before you consider making a large purchase here. I promise you, you can find a much better deal and a more reliable car elsewhere. More

EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! We cannot say enough good things about this dealership. We were there to buy our daughter a used vehicle to drive back-and-forth to college. When we arrived the vehicle was ready for us to take out. We asked Pauline to drive the vehicle for us since we were from out of town and not familiar with Fairfax roads. We also wanted to be able to pay attention to the vehicle sounds and interior. Pauline described how the brakes felt, how the steering felt and how the engine felt. She even told us the brakes felt a bit soft but we had been fore warned that the rotors were going to be replaced. After a successful test drive and agreeing on purchase price (which by the way, they were willing to negotiate), we visited with Michael Kim who I believe is either a manager or co-owner. We paid for the vehicle and agreed to return on Saturday so FM could replace the rotors. When we returned on Saturday, the rotors had been replaced, the catalytic converter had been replaced, the airbags had been replaced (there was an open recall on them) and the differential fluid had been replaced. Apparently, Mr. Kim, after learning the car was for our daughter, decided to have their mechanics check the vehicle front to back to be sure it was safe and operating well. All on his own and with no expense to us. We could not be happier with Fairfax Motors and we definitely recommend them, especially Pauline and Mike. We will definitely be back to buy our next vehicle there! More
