Doesn't care about service after the sale!!! My daughter and I live in Marion VA, which is about 2½ hours from Hickory, NC. My daughter was looking for a Chrysler 300 Limited and found a car on My daughter and I live in Marion VA, which is about 2½ hours from Hickory, NC. My daughter was looking for a Chrysler 300 Limited and found a car on the Everett Chevrolet website. On 05/24/17 she visited the dealership by herself; and met with salesman, Duel Baker, and test drove a 2016 Chrysler 300 Limited AWD. The dealership made an offer for trade on her car. However, she did not trade that day as she wanted my husband and me to assist her with negotiating a trade with the dealership; and she had a tentative offer for the sale of her car. Although neither my husband nor I had seen the vehicle, we assisted her with the trade negotiations with Justin Phillips. The dealership was reasonably easy to talk with for the negotiations. We entered into a deal and accepted their offer for delivery of the car to my daughter’s workplace, at which time she signed the necessary paperwork and I paid the balance due by personal check. The delivery driver was very courteous and attempted to help us resolve a couple of glitches relative to the car upon delivery. When my husband started the car, the oil change required indicator came on. The driver called the dealership and learned that the oil had been changed and upon inspection the oil appeared to be clean and recently changed. The driver was not able to reset the computer to reflect the oil change. My husband found a tag mounting bracket in the trunk. As VA requires that a vehicle have both front and rear license plates, my husband questioned Justin Phillips, who was called by the delivery person, about the installation. Phillips told my husband that it would not cost us much for the installation. When my husband questioned why we would have to pay the cost, Phillips finally said to take the car to a Chrysler dealership for installation and that dealer could send Everett the bill. Despite being courteous during the sales negotiations, Phillips developed an attitude and was very rude when he was talking with my husband about the above issues. Later that week, my husband contacted Direct Dodge Chrysler in Wytheville, VA to schedule the installation of the tag bracket and was told that we would have to pay and bill Everett Chevy for reimbursement. In an email exchange with Justin Phillips about the cost, Duel Baker advised in an email of 06/01/17 that “Justin said you could make a copy of the bill and send it to us. We will send a check out as soon as we receive it.” On 06/05/07, Direct Dodge installed the bracket and completed the required Virginia annual inspection. On the invoice, the service advisor wrote that “technician noted upon state inspection that left lamplight is aimed excessively low and the right is slightly high”. The lights were aimed to specifications required to pass inspection. The service advisor said that the front fender had been previously removed for reasons unknown to them and the lights had not been adjusted properly. My daughter would not have known this during her mid-afternoon test drive but the dealership should have known. We have mailed the statement for the inspection and the installation of the tag bracket to Phillips and payment has not yet been received. On 06/08/17, at my daughter’s request, we took the Chrysler 300 to a business in Bristol TN to have the windows tinted. The technician reported that there were deep scratches in the back window on the driver’s side, and that the tinting would only serve to make them more visible. My daughter did give the Ok to proceed with the tinting. The same technician also pointed out to us that the front fender and bumper had been likely replaced with a crude attempt to paint the replacement parts. It was also pointed out to us that it appeared to have been scrubbed with a harsh brush or substance. Also, after looking through the glove compartment, we found the owner’s manual which is unreadable as the pages are stuck together or has been scorched. Shortly after that conversation, my husband called for Justin Phillips and was told that he was not at the dealership and my husband talked with Duel Baker and explained the above. Baker claimed that the car had a clean car fax and promised to send my husband via email that date {06/08/17} a copy of the car fax and records from their service department as to what was done to the car at the dealership. As of this writing, the information has not been received. It appears that Phillips and Everett Chevy are most anxious to sell vehicles without attempting to resolve any problems after the sale. Neither Baker nor Phillips has contacted us to address our concerns about the vehicle. I am still asking that a copy of the car fax and the service records be emailed to my husband’s attention. The dealership has our email address on file. My husband is also waiting on the reimbursement check. This vehicle has all the features that my daughter was looking for but I feel that she was taken advantage of and I also feel that this vehicle should have never been placed on the lot for resale. This 2016 Chrysler 300 was not in good shape as the sales people and the price of the vehicle reflected and the car fax that was shown to my daughter. I am considering placing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of North Carolina. In summary, I would not recommend this dealership to anyone. If a customer is considering a used car, I suggest that you have a reliable mechanic carefully inspect the vehicle, especially if you are buying from Everett Chevrolet in Hickory, NC. Rusty was great, let us test drive everything that we were interested in, to make sure we were certain of our final choice. He was very patient with us, my husband has a back condition and finding the most comfortable vehicle was very important to us. Cody was super nice, patient and very helpful. And Justin just topped things off by working with us until we were totally satisfied with the deal we were getting. After it was all said and done we even got hugs from the guys at Everett. I am very thankful that we chose to go to Everett to buy our car. I recommend you give these 3 guys a try! More
