New car 1. I came into the dealership knowing exactly what make/model I wanted to buy, and was paying cash. 2. I came into the dealership as a single, adult f 1. I came into the dealership knowing exactly what make/model I wanted to buy, and was paying cash. 2. I came into the dealership as a single, adult female. 3. NO ONE approached me as I perused inventory in the lot and in building. I had to approach staff. I was told someone would be sent out to help me. No one showed for nearly 10 minutes (Saturday 6/18, ~4pm). When finally I was approached it was clear that this was not someone responding to a request for assistance, it was someone doing a first check. 4. Sales rep's general product knowledge was fine, but limited when questioned on specifics (Android Auto, ability to use insurance company telematics device), but pricing negotiations were acceptable. Long, but fine. 5. When completing sales paperwork (Tuesday 7/5/16), I was transitioning from a dually registered car to singly registered Hyundai. I was asked if my husband "knew what I was doing and was ok with it.". Really!!!!???? I need my husband's approval to buy a new car????? I understand he needs to sign over title...of course. But you think I need to confirm I have his "approval" to buy a car? You should remind me to have his signature on the title when I bring it in, and stop right there. 6. Car was delivered and walk through completed ~7pm on a Friday (7/8/16) 7. By 7:30 I was back in dealership since windscreen on sunroof was fully disconnected and flapping in the wind when I opened the roof. I was told to come back the next day for service. Lots of apologies, but "don't use the sunroof". 8. Came in Saturday. No parts. They will call me when parts are in. Lots of apologies and "don't use the sunroof". ok. 9. Thursday, 7/14 Service called. No one has part. Part on back order. No idea when parts will arrive. I asked if I could get a ballpark...a week? a month? "It could be a week. It could be a month. we don't know." We'll call you. 10. Rep from Service advises he has spoken with my Sales rep and manager. They will offer some compensation. Does he know what that is, I ask. No. Today marks four days since that call with Service. I have not heard anything from Sales rep. What will my compensation be?? I don't know. Perhaps it is dependent on how long I will end up having to wait for the part. Who knows. 11. So, here I am...10 days with a new car in peak of summer. I bought a panoramic roof/sunroof purposefully. But I can't use the sunroof....never have been able to...and I don't know when I will be able to. I have received many apologies during the several times I've been at the dealership, but nothing else, nor a call/email since I've been told that there is no time frame for when I may have a fully functioning new car. 12. I acknowledge that an inoperable sunroof is minor and I may be making a mountain out of a mole hill. Perhaps this reaction is irrational. But a new car is a fun thing. An important thing. An expensive thing. A new car which is found to be broken literally within minutes of delivery is a let down. It also is impossible to avoid the lemon question. If something as simple as a sunroof is interminably broken from minute one, what's to say that a more significant item isn't next. Who knows what the next five years will be like. 13. I enjoy the car, but my disappointment is significant. Very, very significant. More
