Jack McGovern, my salesperson at Empire Hyundai, was exceptional. He made the car-buying process smooth, friendly, and professional, earning a well-deserved 5 stars. Unfortunately, Hyundai's misleading promises and poor customer service overshadowed this positive experience. Hyundai advertised 3 years/36,000 miles of complimentary maintenance performed at any Hyundai service center, but I later learned this only covers four complimentary services—a critical detail that was never communicated or included in the documentation. Problems arose immediately after purchasing my Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy, which had a broken rearview camera requiring five months to repair. Shortly after, a recurring blown fuse became an issue. For convenience, I visited Koepel Hyundai of Queens for my second complimentary service and the fuse repair. I assumed factory defect repairs (like the camera and fuse) wouldn’t count against complimentary maintenance, which I believe they did in my case. When I asked Koepel Hyundai why the fuse issue persisted, I was met with laughter instead of assistance. Empire Hyundai, where I purchased the vehicle, claimed I should have been notified about remaining services and that complimentary service shouldn’t have been used unnecessarily. Now, I am being refused additional services on a two-year-old vehicle with only 17,000 miles. Both failures—poor communication about maintenance and unprofessional treatment—reflect poorly on Hyundai’s service. They should honor their promise. While I commend Jack McGovern’s excellent service, the dealership’s approach feels like a bait-and-switch. I strongly urge future buyers to demand clear details about complimentary services before making a purchase. More
