I purchased a 2001 Certified Passat in 04. I have taken it in when service is needed or called for. Each time I have taken it in, the car was running fine, but after there service I have had major problems it in when service is needed or called for. Oil leakage, nothing showed on my garage, boots replaced, steering rods replaced. lower engine cover replaced, outer tire rods replaced, lower controll arms replaced, loose bushings in control arms and joints, engine lite came on, secondary air line replaced all within two years. Took car in for 70m check, car had engine light again, found vac leak replacted tub and vac hoses, tire rotation done. Left on vacation and after 200 miles engine light came on, also found front wheel lug came off. When back from vacation had to replace air flow meter, $400. At 75000 miles had full service, car was running well. After service they found that the wire harness was brittle and broken wire causing car to run ruff, they fixed without cost as they broke the wires. Told me to sell the car to another dealer as repairs to the wire harness would cost $2500. All this within 2 1/2 years on a certified car. More
