On February 7, 2013, I have asked my son to take my Toyota4Runner to Elk Grove Toyota to find out what is broken because the VSTrac and Check Engine light keeps coming on. I followed up and went to thi Toyota4Runner to Elk Grove Toyota to find out what is broken because the VSTrac and Check Engine light keeps coming on. I followed up and went to this dealership in the afternoon and met Fred Daniels the first time. I already sense the unfriendliness of Fred Daniels specially his agressive and unprofessional demeanor in dealing with me the first 10 minutes of talking to him. He told me a number of items that needed to be fixed with the cost associated. Mr Daniels told me that the catalytic converter and timing belt needed to be fixed and tehse are major reason why the VSTRac and Check Engine Light is coming on. He also told me that the brakes in the rear needed to be fixed and there is a fluid leaking on the brakeline system, pads need replacement. I asked what about the front brake? He told me its still good for another 5k -10k miles. This is contrary to what Goodyear service mechanic had inspected,..which my son was told that the front and rear need to be fixed. My son went to Goodyear service and was offered a free brake inspection prior to going to Elk Grove Toyota. My son was quoted only $850 for labor and parts for the front and rear brakes of my 4Runner. I have a copy of the estimate with me for my records. Upon talking to Fred Daniels and quoted for a total amount of $1150 including the wiper blades replacement,..I would like to back out and go back to Goodyear service instead of Toyota Dealership Elk Grove. When I said I will ask my wife first and will go back if I decided, Fred Daniels said that I need to pay $120 for the diagnosis inspection before I can take home my SUV.. I was surprised and instead of paying $120 for nothing,..I decided to leave the car and have it fixed. I found him very dishonest as he explained to me what needed to be done than what the situation was when I picked my car and pay for the bill. He not only charged me outrageous amount $120 per hour labor cost for front and rear brakes, just to change the pads, the rotors are still good, but he kept insisting that the TIMING BELT be replaced. He informed me that I need to schedule this timing belt work soon. When I picked my car the Check Engine light was still on,...I came back and talked to him about this, Fred Daniels with a weird look at me said that that unless the timing belt is fixed ,..the check engine light will come on. He further said that it is not connected to the brake system of my SUV. When I came back to my car and decided to go home very disappointed,..the Check Engine light was not coming on anymore. So, what was Fred Daniels talking about that unless the timing belt is replaced and the catalytic converter is fixed the Check Engine light along with the VSTrac will come on...is totally not true and meant to persuade me into getting the timing belt and catalytic converter work be done which according to his estimate will cost more than $3,000. I paid a total $1,157 for the front and rear brakes which was outrageously expensive..$855 for the labor cost and about $413 for the parts. I would like to dispute this amount. I believed that Goodyear service estimate was more accurate and honestly calculated unlike Fred Daniels cost estimate. I am asking the DealerRater representative to help me to get the money that I believed Fred Daniels over charged me. I will not go back to this dealership again and I hope other people read this,..so they wont be victimized by the dishonesty, unfriendliness of this person named FRED DANIELS! I hoped Elk Grove Toyota dealership management do something about this person that is ruining the reputation of their business. More
On 08/20/11 I had new brakes installed on my 2001 Toyota Highlander. Shortly after, when I had the window open I noticed a loud rattling whenever noise coming from the front wheels when I drove over a pot h Highlander. Shortly after, when I had the window open I noticed a loud rattling whenever noise coming from the front wheels when I drove over a pot hole or was on a bumpy surface. On 03/07/12 I called and spoke to Fred Daniels and explained the noise and added that I felt that the problem was either loose calipers or lack of shims or clips on the front brakes being installed after the brake job. He agreed and I dropped my Highlander off that evening. On 03/08/12 Fred called and informed me that none of the technician's could hear the noise. After the third call with Fred consistently telling me that the technician's couldn't hear anything, I stated that I would return to the dealership and take a technician out on a drive. At that point, the problem still was not resolved, but that didn't stop Fred from attempting to talk me into purchasing a timing belt. I responded that I would prefer to deal with one problem at a time and that I knew that a belt and water pump is recommended for vehicles near 100,000 miles. The technician was incredible, we went down a bumpy road and he heard it immediately and added that the advisor had never told him that the sound was only detected over bumps or on rough roads. When we returned, Fred was determined that the problem must be due to heat shields, the technician and I both disagreed and the technician replied that they really needed to get it on a lift and examine the brakes thoroughly before they'd know for sure. Again, the technician handled that situation flawlessly compared to the way Fred was. I was unable to leave the vehicle there for additional examination because Fred was off on Friday, So I took the vehicle home and returned it to the dealership on Sunday 03/11/12. Fred called on Monday afternoon and said that the problem was now resolved, I asked what had been done to fix the issue and he replied that they had to install shims on both front wheels. But now he said that the check engine light was on and asked if I wanted them to hook it up to find out what the problem was, I replied that I didn't because I knew it was one of two things, either a loose negative connection on the battery terminal or the gas cap (the vehicle was extremely low on fuel). Fred proceeded to inform me (in a very condescending manner) that neither of those things would cause the check engine light to come on and that I should have it checked. I again said no and he proceeded to become curt and informed me that "my vehicle was done and I could come pick it up" and hung up. When my son and I arrived to pick it up that afternoon, we proceeded into Fred's office, he promptly informed me that my service documents were already at the front desk, turned around and walked away. Both my son and I were stood in his office and were stunned. We signed the necessary forms, were given our keys by the very friendly office staff and we left. I proceeded to the gas station, fueled the vehicle and started it and guess what, the check engine light was gone. Our family has been bringing our vehicles up to this dealership for a number of years, and never have we been treated so unprofessionally. I seriously doubt that we will ever bring our vehicles back to this dealership again, nor would I ever consider recommending the service department to anyone. This was the worst experience I have ever had at a dealership and will not soon forget it. More
Elk Grove Toyota's Service Dept has lost my trust. First a spark plug blew out of the engine because it was not tightened, next they improperly installed a calalytic converted, and now a week or so ago they a spark plug blew out of the engine because it was not tightened, next they improperly installed a calalytic converted, and now a week or so ago they diagnosed a misfire in one cylinder and said that it could cost $1,200 to open up the engine to find out and indicated it could cost more depending on what they found. I was alarmed and contacted my brother who is a mechanic to look at it. It only took him about 20 minutes to find that it was simple bad spark plug -- that is all. I've been a loyal customer since 1996 when I first purchased my 4runner. But I will not be going back to elk grove toyota. More
I bought my Camry at Elk Grove Toyota about 4 years ago and have been taking it there for service ever since. However, during a time crunch a few months ago I took it to another dealer for maintenance and and have been taking it there for service ever since. However, during a time crunch a few months ago I took it to another dealer for maintenance and WILL NEVER do that again! I am so pleased with Elk Grove's thoroughness, their customer service, their professionalism, and their pricing. It is worth every mile of the 30 minute drive it takes to get there for peace of mind and great customer care. Thanks Jason for hooking it up! More

I purchased my 4Runner brand new in 1997 from Florin Road Toyota and was very nervous when they closed but was pleasantly surprised to see that some of the same great people from there were now at Elk Grove Toyota especially Victor Reynoso. Victor has always been up front, fair and willing to work with me whenever I needd my truck serviced. I continue to come to him to this day because I trust and respect him and to me that is the most important quality. My truck has not been serviced anywhere else even when I lived in San Jose I would come all the way back here to have it serviced because of the great service I receive. Thank you very much! More

I personally prefer consulting with him because he is the most friendly, attentive and really shows the utmost respect and care for customers regardless of how busy and hectic the day. I rate him excellent each time he services my care and feels that he is such an asset to the dealer. Most people that I know who comes in contact with Anthony says the same thing about him. I would recommend all of my friends to Toyota and to talk with Anthony regarding any of their needs or concerns. His integrity is unquestionable which is why I keep coming back. More
Been a customer of Elk Grove Toyotal (used to be Florin Rd Toyota before they moved) for over 20 years. We have three Toyotas, all purchased there and 100% serviced there. The work is always performed prof Rd Toyota before they moved) for over 20 years. We have three Toyotas, all purchased there and 100% serviced there. The work is always performed professionally, excellently, and on-time. But, what makes this dealership standout for me, is their Service Mgr. Rocky Deavers(don't now Rocky's exact title, but he works directly with the customers). I've been working with Rocky for over 20 years. First of all, he is a pure professional, treating customers with respect, while providing the information required to make decisions as to what work needs to be done. He's the kind of person that you know will take good care of you, answer any questions from simple to complex and give you solid recommendations. Bottom line, Rocky will take good care of you and your car. More

Anthony checked me in today when I brought my 4Runner in for a 30,000-mile check. He was professional - and really listened when I was trying to explain a problem I was having with my car. He works in the for a 30,000-mile check. He was professional - and really listened when I was trying to explain a problem I was having with my car. He works in the Express Lube Department - he had checked me in last week for an oil change - and had noticed that my car was due for a major service. He helped arrange a rental car - and got me set up with a service technician, Tim Hunley, who was also very good to work with. They found the cause of the problem with my car and it is working great now. I will look to work with Anthony again in the future. More
