Apparently, Elk Grove Toyota makes up registration laws and charges you for them. Forced fake “mandatory” California registration on Nevada residents. Shady and dishonest. Won't take accountability for their mishap, blames the buyer! I put my trust in the associate when purchasing my vehicle. I simply just wanted a refund for their mistake so I would not have to pay duplicate registration fees for both CA and NV. But no, John Thorpe can't take accountability and wants to ruin the buying process for me. They are dishonest, they want to just take your money, and they do not care about the buyer. They knew I was from out of state and resided in NV, and as a buyer who is not fully aware of all the policies and procedures to when it comes to buying a car from out of state I was misled by them and they won't take any accountability for it. As John states to me sarcastically on the phone " since it was Sunday the DMV is closed and that is how we do things" is what I was told after the fact!! I even had an appointment made in advance to come down and purchase the car. No mention of the issue of having the DMV closed on a Sunday and might make things complicated as an out of state buyer. They were well aware of what they were doing. After realizing that CA won't except my insurance because it's based in NV, and I was told as I was in the middle of paperwork that having CA license registration and plates were fine, and I even brought up the fact that I don't want to have to end up having to pay duplicate registration fees if this back fires. The associate assured it would be fine and we could just renew after the year was up in Nevada. But turns out they are wrong, I even spoke to the CA DMV of Investigations and even telling them this, they are unwilling, unapologetic about reimbursing me for the CA fees so I can re-register in NV. But no, John Thorpe can care less that I have to pay well over a thousand dollars to register my vehicle now in NV. This is their mess up, and they can't even take accountability! STAY FAR FAR AWAY from this dealership if you are not wanting to be pushed and scammed and pressured into something, and for them to not even make things right is ridiculous! More
