Elgin advertises nationally and has an option for virtual appointments and home delivery listed on their vehicles. I've learned through this shopping experience that I can't actually get the price many deal appointments and home delivery listed on their vehicles. I've learned through this shopping experience that I can't actually get the price many dealers list because the incentives are regional and the zip code where I live is not eligible for the best incentives. Understanding this I called Elgin on a vehicle they had listed for a low price and jokingly said I'll take it at the price you have listed. I quickly let the sales rep know I was joking and that I understood the price would most likely be higher for me based on my zip code but wanted to know what that price would be. The sales rep stated that they are not allowed to give prices over the phone and said they will only discuss prices in person at the dealership. So what are the virtual appointments and home delivery for? If you only do business locally then take your vehicles off of Cars.com and put them in your local paper. More
We purchased a vehicle from Elgin Jeep Chrysler Ram and at the time they gave us a WE OWE for a detail and a missing piece of trim on the passenger wheel well. After a month of trying to get them to retur at the time they gave us a WE OWE for a detail and a missing piece of trim on the passenger wheel well. After a month of trying to get them to return a phone call regarding the WE OWE I finally received a call back saying part (trim) was in and we could schedule appointment. Brought car in for service and after two weeks of no calls I started making calls to them with no return calls then finally again I get ahold of someone and they tell me they don’t know where car is and they are waiting on parts that are back ordered which should have been a red flag since the part was already in and they have to check into it. Then again after numerous calls they say oh we have it and you can come get it. I say can you confirm it is there and work is done and then no call back for another day which then I keep calling and they say yes it is done and we can pick it up ok so we get to dealer they say they can’t find car, keys or paperwork we were like what the heck is going on here so finally they say we found car but no keys or paperwork so sometime later they find keys but still no paperwork so we go over to the car which at this time we notice outside car filthy dirty, we open door inside filthy too. Which was part of the WE OWE So now we are checking over work they said they did and we come around car only to find out that someone must have hit sometime or crashed into something the trim color doesn’t match, all trim around wheel well scuffed up, windshield chipped, headlight shattered, wheel rim scuffed, and hood had blue tape on it and some chip marks on the spot where blue tape was so at this point the service person says looks like one of our people took it for a ride to see how fast your car is wth!!! So we say we want the manager to come look at this damage. Manager comes over and says we will take care of it and find out what happened and blamed it on body shop! OK SURE!!! I would not believe body shop would leave it like this but ok someone did it either it happened at service center or on way back from body shop either way they are responsible for damage and should handle this with their insurance and make a claim. However now they are giving us the run around. I have never seen a more unprofessional dealership ever!!!! BUYER BEWARE please read reviews before you even step foot into this dealership I wish we would have!!! Next step for us is Lawyer, Consumer News Investigation outlets, States Attorney’s office, BBB and anyone who will listen! If I can save just one person the stress, aggravation, frustration it will be worth all our efforts More
