I hope never to have to go to El Dorado Mazda again! We decided to purchase the CX5 we had leased the past 3 years thru them. Anticipating that we were going to turn around and resell the car, we had s We decided to purchase the CX5 we had leased the past 3 years thru them. Anticipating that we were going to turn around and resell the car, we had service completed including a full inspection the day before. We received a video of the entire inspection as part of the service. When we attempted to payoff the residual, the manager said we also had to pay $1000 for an inspection. We argued this was not fair as we had just had the car inspected by them the day before, we have driven the car ourselves for the past three years, and had had most of the servicing done on the car by them. He was quite adamant and very demeaning and refusing to change the amount. I expect he knew full well that if we gave up and instead just turned the car in, the dealership could realize the app. $10K in equity instead of us getting this. Finally, after a terse discussion, he cut the inspection fee in half to $500. A state inspection is what, $30? Yet he would only go down to $500! We had no choice if we were going to buy out the car. We left there so very angry and vowing never to go back and to tell everyone we knew how he tried to cheat us. Note: we just this past week had the same circumstance with the Ford that we had been leasing and there was NO CHARGE for the inspection! I hope that Mazda manager felt he really "won" vs. us senior citizens! He was so rude and patronizing, we just couldn't believe it! More
