Today my daughter narrowed a list of cars she was interested in to a car on El Dorado's used car lot. We used the form on the website to communicate and were put in contact with a sales person. He wa interested in to a car on El Dorado's used car lot. We used the form on the website to communicate and were put in contact with a sales person. He was helpful and eager. He provided the information we needed about the car and we moved on to numbers. My daughter and I are in Austin so we wanted things settled before driving 200 miles. Ultimately, the sales person said that his management wouldn't negotiate without us having some ... I can't remember the exact word he used ... but something like "equity." I was a little puzzled, but he said he wanted us to provide our payoff on our car and make a proposal to give his management an idea of what we were looking for. I proposed a set of numbers as: 1) sales price for your car, 2) buy price for my trade in, 3) resulting trade differential along with 4) our payoff. The sales person called back and said that he wanted to know where we got the numbers. We had already shared a buy estimate from CarMax and we simply said that we'd like to split the trade-in tax savings by splitting it 50/50. This was giving the dealership a $650 advantage over CarMax. A nice gesture on our part, I thought and I know CarMax can sometimes be tough to beat. We found the car on CarGurus and it suggested that the dealer was offering a "fair deal," but there were plenty of "good deals" out there. This car was her favorite so I suggested that El Dorado come down $1000 to make it a "good deal." The sales person said management wanted to come down $500 instead. But before I could discuss this, I received the "paperwork" which was a screen shot of the corner of a sell sheet. On that sheet was 1) the price the dealership hoped that they could get for the car 4-weeks ago (listed as "retail price" or something similar), the original sales price in CarGurus (not the price we had just negotiated), $1495 for "accessories" and then the buy price for our car (wrong) and the load payoff of the trade-in (wrong). All in all, the numbers were off by almost $10,000 to the bottom line! Before it was over, the sales team tried to roll everything back in stages seeing what they could get, but we were already calling the other dealership we were working with and finding out when they close, etc. I explained to my daughter that about one in five car deals that I do involve this kind of deceptive practice and you just never know when it will appear. We decided to not move forward simply because I don't want to drive 200 miles only to find some additional dishonest practice thrust on us at the last moment. My belief is that the sales practices come from the top, this dealership is fundamentally dishonest and you should avoid doing business with them. More

It is 2021, as a proud gay man, I walked into this dealership with my husband. On multiple occasions our salesman kept mentioning that he thought he was talking to my wife, as if it was difficult to u dealership with my husband. On multiple occasions our salesman kept mentioning that he thought he was talking to my wife, as if it was difficult to understand two men were married. I have never felt more belittled for my PERSONAL lifestyle choice than I did today. I am completely in shock after experiencing this evenings events. I will never return here. More

Buy from here if you like paying more than the listed sales price! We stopped in to look at a used truck we had seen online. Our salesman, Jeff Frederick was friendly, helpful, and not pushy. It was sales price! We stopped in to look at a used truck we had seen online. Our salesman, Jeff Frederick was friendly, helpful, and not pushy. It was the first truck we looked at for the day, so we left to view a couple more options, and ended up back at Eldorado a few hours later to test drive their vehicle. Upon going inside to talk numbers, sales manager Tommy Melton came to speak with us and lost the sale for his salesman in the span of less than 10 minutes. First he was upset that we had our own financing and wouldn't let them try to beat the interest rate. Then he told us that in order to make a "great deal" on the truck, we had to do it that day (it was the last day of the month), and that the ONLY way to make the deal go through was to use their financing, and then REFINANCE with our credit union later. Who falls for this stuff?? Anyway, I asked about leaving a deposit to hold it until Monday when the bank would be open to handle the paperwork, and Mr. Melton told me that wasn't an option, and that we risked them selling the truck to someone else. I told him it was 5:00pm (on Saturday) and that if the truck sold in the next 3 hours before they closed, it just wasn't meant to be ours, and started to leave. Only then did he concede to doing the paperwork and holding it with a deposit. OK, settled that. Now we asked what kind of deal we were talking, and he said, "Oh, I'm not coming down on the price of the truck. It's the only one on the lot and it's priced fairly." (So where's our "great deal" and our incentive to get the end of month bargain?) He slides the paperwork back in our direction, and explains how not only are they not negotiable on the price, but it's now gone UP by $500.00 for, "an extra key fob they had cut"!!! When we questioned the numbers, his comment was, "well that's before your down payment", as if that was going to sweeten the deal. We left that dealership with the worst feeling that afternoon. I feel terrible for Jeff and any of the other salespeople out on that lot busting their backs for a manager who uses shady tactics and practices to chase away deals after they work so hard to get buyers in the door. We will never spend our money at this dealership after that experience. And in the end, we loved the product so much, we actually stayed with the brand but bought elsewhere. More
What supposed to he a good experience shopping for a car turned into a nightmare. The price was fair and they tried to roll me at the negotiating table but the car got bought DP WAS supposed to be held f turned into a nightmare. The price was fair and they tried to roll me at the negotiating table but the car got bought DP WAS supposed to be held for 17 days to transfer funds upon verbal agreement between me my salesmen and finance manager however was sent through 3 days later ultimately forcing my bank to deny charge me and send back....then I had three days to evaluate the car it was a CPO upon 1 day of driving the car I noticed my phone would not connect to bluetooth auto due to the usb ports not working properly.. also they only gave me one key for the car which has a dead battery in the key fob when I asked for another one they told me I'd have to purchase one I'm sorry I thought buying cpo took the worry out of buying used instead I have to make time to have all these changes done to fix inspections that should have already been done including my only keys battery being changed due to be dead that tells me they didnt even do the portion of the 172 point inspection because the key fob and usb auxiliary port are back to back......by the time I finally reached someone about the issue after leaving several unreturned messages mind you i have 3 days and I'm working i finally reach someone after several voicemails unreturned on the 4th day finally got ahold of someone all in all I give this experience 1 star that's for the salesmen I legitimately think he wanted to make me happy and do me right as I did them I never haggled price only apr @22% but the other stars well there are alot of uncorking pieces in this dealership especially when certifying pre owned unless they assumed I'd have no problem running to the watch repair shop for a spare battery on my way home with the car....Did I mention I'm still waiting on a call back to confirm they will actually hold my check for 10 more days but I wont hold my breath because in the 4 days of one way communication I was also hung up on by a receptionist and then called back for 40 mins only to go unanswered ....these guys gave up on me after I left the lot and am not sure how GMC doesnt look further into how they certify pre owns there no rhyme or reason the only key fob battery should be dead and usb ports not working order....yall better get that customer care in working order because my experience god awful. I asked for the price before we hung up and was told $60 as they were running a special. When I arrived the service advisor handed me paperwork to sign to get started (shame on me for not reading it). I told him I would wait on my car and after an hour and fifteen minutes I asked for a status on when my car would be complete. He said they were in the middle of the 30,000 mile warranty and it would be another hour and a half. This floored me as I never asked for that service, my car was shy of 30,000 miles. I asked what that was going to cost me and he said $550 and that he and I discussed it on our phone conversation. There is no way I would have agreed to this one month before Christmas. I work from home and could have booked it after the new year. I had him stop that work on my car immediately and was told I had to pay $230 in order to get my car back. It seems they do this a lot as I called to worn a friend that purchased a vehicle from them and she told me they did it to her back in April and wanted her to pay $750, but agreed to take $250. Please read your paperwork before signing for service. I will be finding another dealership to take my car to in the future. More
Dealer tried switching to a much less costly truck after we had a contract. Deal went back and forth to the "boss" prior to the agreed upon contract and as I was about to pick up the truck they said they ha we had a contract. Deal went back and forth to the "boss" prior to the agreed upon contract and as I was about to pick up the truck they said they had to find me a truck that was $9000 less to make that deal. Jas called to "make it right" and offered to sell me the same truck for $9000 more than the contract and I should understand because "we are both businessmen" and it was the computer that posted that vehicle in error, even though it was associated with 23 pictures. We have made dozens and dozens of online vehicle purchases and never anything close to how bad El Dorado Chevy is. More
