Tried to purchase a used 2019 RDX they had listed on their website and it was like dealing with scam artists at their finest. Stopped in about a month ago to check out what they had on their lot and was able to figure out which car was for us, but unfortunately at that time they didn't have the color I wanted. About a week ago they had the color/model we liked so we ventured over to check it out. It had some wear & tear, so we offer a price we thought was fair, they said no and we left. A couple days later they re-listed the same car but at a lower price but took off the certification. We contacted the sales person and went back and forth and finally came to an agreement. We go over there to purchase the car and arrive at 6:15pm and by 8:30pm finally was able to sit down with finance to make the purchase. Come to find out that the price we agreed on was not the price. We agreed on $39,941 certified plus tax, title, doc fee & transfer of plates. When we got to finance they wanted us to pay $39,941 certified plus, $1395 Napleton Experience package, $895 dealer fee, title, tax, ETF & plate transfer fee. We were never told about the Napleton Experience package or the dealer fee. We told them all the other charges were understandable. We told them to take off the Experience package that we didn't need it and they said they can't. I asked if it's something you can't take off then why wouldn't you list that on the website. No where on the website does it state anything about a Napleton Experience package or dealership fee. So we complained and the sales manager came in and basically reworked the numbers in a good scam artist way to try to confuse us. After going over it again all they were doing is hiding fees. At 9pm we left with no deal. We're more upset with the fact they said nothing about the fees nor is it listed on the car listing. More
Extra/made-up fees, false claims, and hidden issues I experienced deceptive practices, extra/made-up fees, false claims, and hidden issues with the car that they had to have known about. This is a long I experienced deceptive practices, extra/made-up fees, false claims, and hidden issues with the car that they had to have known about. This is a long one, but it all needs to be said, and read. I was not expecting a perfect car, but issues were intentionally hidden. I gave the dealer a chance to fix the issues before writing a review, but was met with silence. Buying the Car Friendly enough at the start, things moved quickly to get the car out and test driven. All was good, and then everything slowed to a painful crawl. This is to all car dealers - I hate this game. Every customer hates this game. Please just stop. First time back at the table with the out-the-door price made me laugh. Over $3000 more than the TrueCar price I was quoted. Additional Fees: $800 Dealer Processing Fee. This was in addition to the doc processing fee. $1500 UCI (Used Car Fee). This is a completely made up fee that they tried to make sound as if it were some sort of regulated fee by giving it an acronym. I’m assuming its designed to recoup things like advertising expenses or any unexpected repairs to the car. But then what is that $800 dealer processing fee listed above for? $1300 annual maintenance fee. This is basically oil changes and brakes. Even if I came in every 3 months, I would be paying $1300 for 3-4 oil changes. The maintenance schedule on this particular car is 8000 miles, the brakes are new and the tires of offset and can't be rotated, so that’s $1300 for one oil change. Given the unresolved issues stated below, I won’t go back for service. When I showed the sales person the email their own staff had quoted me through the TrueCar inquiry, I was pointed to the fine print and was told that was just the online sales staff price. After 2 hours of absolutely needless back and forth, I got a price I could accept and was out the door… after another hour and a half of waiting. This simple transaction took 4.5 hours. That’s 4.5 hours even though I paid cash. Bogus Claims Often touted and repeated was the FREE Windshield repair or replacement. Call your insurance agent. I guarantee your windshield is covered with a no-deductible replacement. Also claimed was that the dealer etched the glass on the car so I could get a discount on my insurance. The dealer didn't do that, the manufacturer of the car did that at the time of production. Issues with the Car The rest, and worst, comes shortly after purchasing the car. The car was always given to me running. I hadn’t thought anything of it, until I stopped on the way home and turned it off. The car started and ran fine, but I was immediately presented with an error that a parking light was out. I thought this was odd. Why would they hide an error like that instead of just changing a $3 bulb? I thought this was no big deal, as I was going to change these 4 lights with white LEDs anyway. When I went to change the lights a week later and found that three of the four casings for these bulbs were completely snapped off. This will cost $700+ just for the headlight assemblies. This doesn’t include labor, which involves removing the grill and part of the bumper and wheel well. I later noticed that they had had also turned off the DRL so I couldn’t see the bulb was out. The issue was known, and intentionally hidden. The next issue came up when I went to even out the tire pressure a couple weeks after purchasing the car. All four of the metal valve caps were seized to the valve stems. There is no way to get them off without damaging the stem and one of the stems snapped just above the valve. This will require 4 new TPMS sensors and a cost of over $1000. The dealer had this car for 6+ weeks prior to me purchasing it and had to have known that these valve caps were seized. Again, I was not expecting a perfect car, but these two issues, that will cost over $2000 to remedy, were deliberately hidden at the time of purchase. Verdict Experiences like this is why people are moving in droves even to buy a car online. I tried to buy the same car online, but it was gone in less than a day. Every time one came up, I couldn’t get to it fast enough. This was an exceptionally poor experience from Napleton Acura. I’m left wondering what other issues are going to crop up and I can’t even trust them to change the oil in the car. I will never go there or to any of the network of dealers again, and will steer friends and family as far away as possible. The entire experience was completely unacceptable, and unnecessary. As I said, I did raise these issue to the dealer when presented with a service survey. I gave them a chance to fix things prior to writing this review, but was I met with silence. More
Terrible Experience I have leased luxury cars for the past 10 years going from Lexus, to Audi, to BMW's. This was my first attempt at leasing an Acura and my last thanks I have leased luxury cars for the past 10 years going from Lexus, to Audi, to BMW's. This was my first attempt at leasing an Acura and my last thanks to this dealership. I live an hour away from the dealership and was very upfront that I wanted to work out the deal before driving an hour away. They happily agreed. We worked out a deal where I would lease an ILX with no money out of pocket and trade in my vehicle at KBB value and my lease payment would be roughly 350-375. I verbally called the dealership and verified the numbers before taking an hour of my time to drive there on a Saturday. I drive to the dealership to work with a salesman I have never spoken to before. He basically refuses to let me speak with who I was dealing with via email/text. As they take my keys to do the paperwork on my trade, they proceed to tell me that my car's value is 17,000 and not the 24,000 that KBB has listed. I tell them that is ludacris and I had been offered 22,000 by an Ininiti dealership the day before. I also tell them I can get into an Infiniti Q50 with 0 down and my trade for just under 380. The salesman and manager disappear for 30 minutes to come back and tell me "Oh the Infiniti dealership didnt know you had a trade". They in fact did know I had a trade as I spent 3 hours the day before there. But besides that point, this is the first time a dealership I am currently dealing with has called and verified a deal I told them about with another dealership. In my opinion, that is rude, unethical, and totally uncalled for. So after this goes downhill very quickly, the manager and salesman refuse to give me the price because "we are not even in the same ballpark". So I drove my hour car ride home and proceeded to get a brand new Infiniti Q50. This is worst experience I have ever had at a "luxury" car dealership and I will never return. More
