The Ed Martin Automotive group was founded in 1955 by Ed Martin Sr. Ed began life as the first born child of Clarence and Nellie Martin in the Indiana University Coleman hospital in Indianapolis, IN. His entrance into this world shows that his life was destined to be anything but typical.
Ed graduated from Manual High School as a football star and continued his football career at Butler University in Indianapolis. Ed's parents were both attorneys; his mother was the first woman to pass the bar in Allen County, Indiana; his father was a Supreme Court Justice for the State of Indiana. In 1946, in Indianapolis, Ed, at the tender age of sixteen, purchased his first automobile with money he earned from delivering groceries and selling ice in his neighborhood. He sold his first car from his parent's front yard. His parents, being both professional and very proud people did not allow Ed to continue selling cars from their front yard. So, Ed approached the neighborhood "filling" station owner and negotiated a deal to sell his cars from the station. As sales grew, it became apparent he had to open his own used car lot, from which he continued selling and wholesaling used cars. In 1955, Ed Martin purchased his first new car dealership, an Oldsmobile dealership in Shelbyville, Indiana. In 1960, Ed Martin became the youngest Ford Automotive dealer in the entire United States. Over the following years, the Ed Martin Automotive Group has evolved into one of the top privately owned corporations in Indianapolis and top eighty corporations in Indiana.

Mr. Stafford put our needs and concerns first and more importantly listened, He was not only honest , he also stood behind us as the customer. Mr. Stafford is a man of his word and besides the customer service he provided he also provided us with an excellent product. Alan, our salesman was great. However, Ed Martin dealership/Service Department has treated me horribly. I had my new Pathfinder 2 days and the trunk latch would not stay shut. I l However, Ed Martin dealership/Service Department has treated me horribly. I had my new Pathfinder 2 days and the trunk latch would not stay shut. I left it with the Dealership service dept. for over two weeks to get the latch fixed, paint protection, window tint. The window tint was the only thing that was done. They did not know when the trunk latch part would be in. They didn’t seem to care about my concerns about how long it had been. They did not work with me on my concerns. I was very upset that I couldn’t get my new car after two weeks. They didn’t even call me before I arrived to pick it up. They gave me a loaner but, it was filthy inside and out. It had used dental floss sticks in the door and something on the driver seat and looked like kids had been in the back seat with dirty fingers. I took it back for them to clean it and they just wiped the front dashboard. I’m at the point that I want to return the vehicle and find another one. My NEW $50 something car is setting outside getting dirty and possible door dings from the other cars. No one can give me a time frame when the part will be in and won’t go the extra mile to find out. Very disappointed and frustrated!! Ed Martin should be ashamed of itself!! I will be telling everyone I know not to go to Ed Martin and for that matter any Nissan dealership!!! More
