About a month after the purchase, I spoke to the customer about a squeaky belt issue. She mentioned investigating and discovering that the previous owner had addressed this at another shop. We conducted a thorough used car inspection on all vehicles before resale, but nothing related to this issue emerged during our examination. When she contacted me, my service manager proposed bringing the car back to us for assistance, but she opted to proceed with the repair elsewhere. Actually, after a thorough investigation into the carfax I specified that I found record of a mechanic who had serviced the vehicle and replaced a belt while it was in ownership of another dealer, not a private owner. I was given the option to put a rebuilt engine with 60,000 miles into my vehicle with 40,000 miles for an estimated $6,000 part cost plus labor and cost to have the vehicle towed to the facility. Perhaps an audit into the inspection process is appropriate at this time. Regardless, the vehicle was sold to me in an unsafe driving condition. After doing my due diligence in seeing if the vehicle was salvageable, and coming to the conclusion that it is not, I was promptly told the dealership was not willing to assist in the matter under any circumstances. I’m not sure what additional calls to the dealer would have accomplished, which is why my honest review of the poor customer service has officially been published. I have spent months trying to work through this situation. While Ed Martin told me in a two minute phone call that they weren’t interested in mending the situation in any way shape or form despite my flexibility and ongoing patience in the situation. The entire company should be ashamed if this is how they handle these types of conflicts with consumers. I could understand if I bought a vehicle and the motor went out and I chose not to purchase an extended warranty. But this situation is completely unique and should be reviewed in such a way.
