Never having done business with EchoPark Automotive Syracuse (Cicero), I was a bit guarded. I had come to them via a Carwiser offering for my extremely well-maintained late model vehicle in excellent Syracuse (Cicero), I was a bit guarded. I had come to them via a Carwiser offering for my extremely well-maintained late model vehicle in excellent condition w/ under 19k miles. The offer was fair – and in turn EchoPark received a car that is sure to make the next owner very happy. I loved the “no negotiation” approach. I had already made up my mind to walk away if the offer was changed by $1.00. It was their offer that prompted my sale consideration. Until then I had planned to keep the car another 3 years. I had already ordered new plates, purchased car-specific WeatherTech mats etc. My car was inspected and the offer stood unchanged. My salesperson (Cole) – walked me thru the initial stages in a friendly / courteous manner. Since this was an unplanned sale and I was jockeying multiple issues the special attention of Erin Krager in the Finance Department was needed. Erin was extremely helpful in facilitating prompt processing of the transaction and even promised a small token of appreciation. Bottom line – she turned the entire sale into a positive EchoPark (Cicero) experience. More

The 'experience' started with a text response to my online inquiry from Edwina James. I couldn't text, because I was driving and the caller states, they do not recognize that name and I'm put on hold. online inquiry from Edwina James. I couldn't text, because I was driving and the caller states, they do not recognize that name and I'm put on hold....and then hung up on. I call back, someone answers and immediately hangs up. Five calls - no success should have been the first red flag and I wish, now, I moved on at that point. The same happened to me on the way to pick up the vehicle. I call and the representative has no clue where Cicero is or who Joseph Vanhoven even is. This Call Center System you have going is nothing short of a xxxx Show. Again, I was on hold for 6 minutes and 32 seconds. In Customer Service School, they teach you that two minutes is the maximum time a client should be on hold with no verbal communication of xxx is going on. When I complained about this system, she said she'd have a manager contact me ... at this point, I'm not surprised about anything -- no one called. We're thrilled to find the make, model and price range we have been searching for, for two or three weeks. We leave the evening of the 14th knowing that the next morning, I'll be at the bank at 9:00 am and on to take ownership of our new vehicle. THIS APPROXIMATE ARRIVAL OF 10:00 am is NO SURPRISE TO THE STAFF IN CICERO. As I pull in, there is the new-to-me vehicle - hood up with three mechanics under the hood. I enter the building with hard earned money, a $19,000.00 check and title in hand and we take care of the pre-paperwork to make the transaction and am informed that I am getting a new battery - that's it. I return to my car to complete the gathering of my last personal effects. Intrigued by the number of staff present to swap out a battery, I walk over and comment "tell me good things guys" -- the response "This is why salespeople need to stay at their desks and let the mechanics do the work". The group informed me that the battery was dead the morning of my expected arrival, and the salesman jumped it himself ... and did not attach the cables properly, an AUTO 101, epic fail and shorted out the fuse box. How many of us, were raised by fathers or surrounded by husbands, as we jump a car battery, where the first thing stated is 'MAKE SURE YOU GET THE CABLES RIGHT, YOU'LL BLOW THE THING UP". So, in the span of 9:00 am - 10:00 am, a phone call saving me the drive would have saved me wasted trip. Mary was kind and apologetic and provided a vehicle for me to use, so I could get to work -- by NOON. So much was brushed under the rug and the conversation with the mechanics and lack of 'sorry' for the salesman is huge. I arrived before his shift ended yesterday and he couldn't even come out. With over 20 locations nationwide, I find it sad that when we asked if we could. find something else in our category range to still work with Echo Park. We got a flat 'NO'. Mary pulled it together, remained apologetic and professional and offered me a Home Depot Card, which is appreciated, yet my "lunch hour" pick up turned into having to use PTO time, because this cost me over half a day's work time. I walked away from this deal, even after trying to still take the vehicle with a warranty based on this damage, yet things happen for a reason. I truly believe that. I also believe in Karma -- so your team better put the truth out there about this vehicle. Three professionals - two mechanics and a Toyota Representative at another car dealership all had the same thing to say about this type of damage ... 'walk away'. Fortunately, I found a better car, same year, 20,000 less mileage, less money and $400 more on my trade than your offer AND this particular dealership said "Echo Park keeps us in business, so many leave EP disappointed and end up here".
