My partner bought a Toyota FJ Cruiser New in 2014. One of the dogs ran off with the little vinyl sleeve that slips over the.shifter handle to protect it. We want a replacement sleeve. Toyota says oh, you ha the dogs ran off with the little vinyl sleeve that slips over the.shifter handle to protect it. We want a replacement sleeve. Toyota says oh, you have to buy the entire console cover for $117.00. The console is fine we’re just missing a little sleeve. Thank you very much Toyota if Madison. Following day, I was informed that car should be completed the next day. It wasn't done and had to be service out so it prolonged the delivery date. Get a call on day 2 that the key doesn't work for the car. Are you serious? How did you move the car in the first place? Are you sure you have the right key? He was so confident on the phone and explained that sometimes the key hole is corroded. So when I got there, he walked up to the wrong car. WOW and he didn't even apologize for his mistake. Sure we make mistakes so I played it off. The car wasn't done until 2 days later, so it went from a couple hours to almost week to complete this simple job. Overpromised and underdeliver with a lot of excuses and explanation. And finally when I picked up the car the gas cap was on top of the car. He was just confused as I was. So the take away from this experience is to avoid this place and especially this newbie! More
How car buying should be After a couple of bad experiences at other Toyota dealerships, I decided to request info on a 2019 4runner from East Madison Toyota. Mikayla responded After a couple of bad experiences at other Toyota dealerships, I decided to request info on a 2019 4runner from East Madison Toyota. Mikayla responded right away, gave me the information I requested including an amazing and truly out the door price. Not once did she get pushy or try to talk me into anything other than what I wanted which was so refreshing. She answered all my questions and concerns and if she wasn't 100% sure about something she took the time to find out and respond in a timely fashion. Within a couple of days we were at the dealership to take delivery of our first new car and anticipated surprises, because that just seems to be how dealers operate. But to our pleasant surprise, there were none! Mikayla greeted us at the door, took us to the vehicle to look it over, she made sure it was exactly what we were expecting, even took us to the parts department and helped us look at a couple different styles of running boards. On the test drive, she made sure to guide us on a good mix of back roads and highway to get the best overall feel of the vehicle. It took a while to get in to sign papers because they were swamped so Mikayla saw to it that we were comfortable and knew where the refreshments were. She checked back with us whenever she had other customers to tend to and even took time to chat about the vehicle and life in general. The young man who showed us the vehicle's features was very nice and informative, wish I could remember his name. Signing papers was a breeze, nothing pushy, just business but very relaxed. All in all it was a very positive experience, everyone was pleasant and professional but Mikayla was the rockstar! She saw to it that we had everything we needed from the very first email to her seeing us off in our new truck. We have never been more comfortable in a dealership so thanks to her along with the rest of the staff. Hopefully we won't be in the market for a vehicle for many years to come but when we are, this will be our dealership of choice, even though it's a three hour drive, and hopefully we will get to deal with Mikayla again, only this time maybe when we're signing papers in that nice big office...hint, hint 🙂 More

Attention to detail Traded my 2010 Tundra in for a 17 Tundra. Used trucks are a hot market and prices are similar to new prices. Kicked around the new idea but was convinced that the Certified Pre-owned was a great deal since it already had the paint & rust protection (The WI Package) a $2000 add-on. Upon return home I discovered a significant scratch in the paint which exposed bare metal. Since one of the main factors in choosing this used Certified truck was paint & rust protection I called the dealer to ask them to repair this blemish. The 160 point Certified Inspection had clearly missed this damage. After multiple contacts with the salesman and no results besides vague responses and passive excuses of not knowing what their retailers schedule was like I took it to a body shop and paid another $400 on top of my $35K truck. They didn’t come down on the ‘17’s price and gave me $14K for my ‘10 and listed it for $20K. Trade on a ‘17 was listed for ~$28K You can see they had a lot of cushion and it was shocking that they’d hesitate at fixing this blemish which they missed. During the whole process as I attempted to negotiate the ‘17 I was met with boasts about how big a dealer they are and how they move vehicles fast. As if to flex & say they don’t need my sale. Yes, I wanted the truck and they got my sale. What they didn’t earn was my loyalty or recommendation. I offered to leave the ‘17 with them as long as they needed it to repair the blemish and only requested a loaner because I live 90 miles away. I was not even counter offered with a “we’ll repair it but we can’t loan you a car or even rent me a car”. It was avoidance and passive aggressive excuses. JJ, just come out and say it, tell me you won’t do it and you are the biggest Toyota dealer in WI and people come from over 2hrs away to buy from your dealership. That’s one of your boasts. “A woman cane two hours to buy a Camry” is what I was told. I was so impressed, not really. I just wanted a specific truck. A black tundra with TRD package and those are hard to find. I wasn’t pushed to the used truck over a new truck because of a rust protection package. I was pushed to the used truck because they can build a much larger profit margin in a used truck than a new one which sells for under invoice. This equals to a much larger commission. Be advised folks. Dealers make money on used vehicles from you. They make money on new ones from Manufacture incentives for selling volume. Have a J. Henry & Sons bourbon on me East Madison Toyota, god knows you can afford it with my sale & trade-in. More
