It was a 2018 RAV4 stock PD248313 with 16,053 miles. The price we were quoted was your "On Sale" price of $34,992. We offered $32,147, the Fair Market Price according to several online sites. The salesperson showed us a sheet saying that the tires were measured at 8/32. To me, they looked closer to 4/32 to 5/32. Unfortunately, we did not actually measure the tires. In any case, doesn't a "Certified Toyota" have new tires? Perhaps this is not the case? When we examined the car, the salesperson did mention that there was a small dent in the rear bumper, but I do not remember that he mentioned that the vehicle had been in a minor accident. Yes, it was minor as far as we could tell, but enough to be reported in Carfax. When we asked what the “Documentary Fee of $299” was for, the salesperson said it was for keeping records of the sale for seven years. What covers preparing the car (washing it, making sure it was clean inside and out), a full tank of gas, etc.? Perhaps it would be better called a "Service Fee." Full disclosure builds trust. We said we would be paying cash. But the forms he filled out were for an amount financed, which included a $10 filing fee added to the "Total License and Fees" amount. Was he listening? We were told that this was an “On Sale” sales price. Yet our online research showed that this was the highest asking price for this model car within a 100 mile radius. The Bridgestone tires on this vehicle looked to me to be too worn for Wisconsin winter driving. The sales person said they had been measured at 8/32, but my estimation is they looked closer to 4/32 to 5/32. All these "little things" added up, eroding trust. The end result is that we did not purchase the vehicle.
