Dear Andrew, A few weeks after you purchased your car, your battery needed to be recharged, which we did. The battery did not need to be replaced. Your car was fine for the next 14 months. In August 2017, your battery needed to be recharged again. It did not need to be replaced. Your car was fine for 5 months. Recently, your car had a similar issue. We installed a new battery at no charge. You are an important customer of ours and I'm sorry you've had these issues. Why does a brand new car need to be recharged so often? Why would the battery die so many times leaving me on the side of the road in the first place. My 2007 Nissan Sentra still has not died to this day and needed "recharging". I have found a new honest subaru dealership to work with.

Dear Mr. Rittenhouse, I'm sorry to hear about an experience you had at our East Hills Subaru store. To recap, you were here for a recall, a NYS inspection, tire rotation, replacement wiper blades and to secure the front passenger side fender liner. You also asked us to diagnose the front passenger side wall and thread puncture. You had also arranged a loaner car from us. When we examined your front tires, their tread depth was 4/32". New York State requires a minimum tread depth of 2/32" for a vehicle to be legally on the road. As additional background, when you bought your vehicle from us, you purchased a Subaru Gold Warranty which provides pro-rated tire coverage for your tires. Essentially, if a new tire costs $100, the pro-rata amount the warranty company would give you to offset the cost, since you bought your car, would approximate $40-$45, so your net cost would be $55-$60. So we recommended the purchase of two tires at this pro-rated cost, a great value considering the warranty coverage, but also because your tires are 2/32" away from being unsafe and illegal. You declined this purchase and the front tires (the ones at 4/32") were moved to the rear and the rear tires were moved to the front. As our service manager was driving your vehicle back to our shop, he noticed your oil light was on steady. When he checked your oil, he noticed it was low and was very dirty. He made the decision to have your oil changed for 3 reasons: it was the right thing to do, it will prolong the life of your vehicle's engine and you wouldn't have to worry about this service for at least three months. Also when our service manager was driving your vehicle back to our shop, he noticed a flashing tire sensor light on your dash board. We ran our diagnostics software and it indicated your right rear tire sensor was not reading correctly and we recommended you replace it. Your warranty has a $100 deductible on this repair. You elected not to perform this service. At the end of our experience together, you drove a loaner car for two days (no charge), the Takata airbag recall was performed (no charge), the wiper blades were replaced ($32 cost of parts; no charge for labor), we secured the front passenger side fender liner (cost of $2.58 for parts; no charge for labor), we performed a NYS inspection (no charge), we rotated your tires ($35) and we performed an oil change on your vehicle (charge of $7). Plus tax, or $83 total. I'm sorry you feel the way you do. If you would like to talk to our owner, I would be happy to arrange a meeting with him so he can address your concerns. Should you choose not to meet, we hope you don't wait for your next annual inspection before addressing your tires. This snowy weather we've been having puts you and others in jeopardy while driving.
