On April 20, 2013 I purchased a brand new 2013 Dodge Journey from East Hills Chrysler Jeep Dodge. This is the second vehicle that I purchased from them within one and a half year period with the help of Journey from East Hills Chrysler Jeep Dodge. This is the second vehicle that I purchased from them within one and a half year period with the help of James Kropp. He is always friendly and smiling and helped us with all the numbers and with the help of the finance manager who pulled down the stars to get the deal done; shocked us with and incredible price and bank interest rate that we could not resist but say yes to. For the first 500 miles I was in love with my new Journey. As I left the dealer with my two daughters they fell asleep with the comfortable and quiet ride. But then I noticed that there was a noise coming from the front suspension. I called them up and setup an appointment. We went for a drive in which the service advisor Steve (which no longer works at the dealer) heard the noise and said he would look into the issue. They determined that the noise was coming from the front driver side strut. I came again and they replaced the strut and told me to pick it up. When I got there Steve told me that the noise was still there. I took another test drive with the tech and he told me that sometimes these noises come and go. Give it some time and see if it goes away. A few weeks later I called back to the service department and told them that the noise was still there. But this time I noticed that the steering wheel was turned a little to the right and when I straighten the wheel the Journey would go to the left. They confirmed that the Journey was making noise and said they would look at it and that the Journey needed a wheel alignment. After the alignment I was called to pick up my Journey. They also said the noise was gone. I was happy to hear that this annoying noise was finally fixed (or so I thought). As soon as I left the dealer I heard the noise again. I was pretty upset and decided so call again. They told me to bring it in once again and to test drive it. The tech heard the noise and Jon the service writer told me that he was going to look into it. I waited a short time and Jon came out and said they lubed all of the bushings for me and there is no noise. But when I saw the write up he had put on the work order that they could not duplicate the noise. I told him that the tech did hear the noise and that was the reason he lubed all of the bushings. When I got in my vehicle and drove off the lot I instantly notice the suspension noise. I made a u turn and headed back to the dealer and spoke with Jon again. I told him how is it possible for him and the tech to say there is no noise yet it is still there. He didn't know what to respond so he called the tech. When the tech saw me he turned around and without any hesitation he said order a lower control arm. I scheduled yet another appointment to have the lower control arm replaced. He then confirmed the job was done and that the noise no longer exists. After that I drove the car out of the dealer only to find out that the noise still existed. I called again and told them that the noise was still there and their response was not to worry that it is an annoying sound but the vehicle was perfectly safe to drive. To which I responded safe suspensions don't make noises and I did not sign the finance agreement for annoying noises. After that I took my Journey back to the dealer on the first week on December in which they held my vehicle for a week and did absolutely nothing to it. Returned it to me updating the software saying they didn't hear the noise. I test drove my vehicle and was expressing my frustrations with the service writer (whose name I did not get but I can definitely point him out) who told me that the Dodge Journey really wasn't designed to be driven in the city. It was designed to be driven in the suburbs. I was speechless after he said that and my wife looked at me in disbelief. I scheduled another day again for the same noise and this time I spoke with Eric about the matter. We test drove my vehicle on December 24 with a tech. As the tech drove the car I spoke with Eric and told him that I was concerned of my gas mileage because it had dropped significantly. From my home to my job I would normally get 20 to 21 mpg (90% highway driving) and now I only was getting a max of 16 to 17 mpg. He told me not to believe what the sticker on the window says about mpg. Even though I told him that I always kept the fuel economy up on the dashboard display. After we drove the truck he told me that if the problem could not be fixed this time we would have to consult with Chrysler to see what could be done. He confirmed the noise was there and the tech took it in and yet again lubed all of the bushings and made sure that all the bolts were tight. We drove the truck again and after everything was said and done the noise could still be heard. He said he had to check and see when the regional manager for Dodge would be in the area to see what could be done and he would get back to me. I then saw James Kropp greeted him and told him that I needed to speak with him. He was busy at the time and told me to call him back in a while. I called him back and spoke with him. I told him that I was not satisfied with the way service was treating the issue I was having. Like if it was ok for me to continue to drive around in a vehicle that made noises and didn't get good gas mileage. He spoke with Ed and told me the same thing that Eric told me. We need to speak with the regional manager to see what could be done. I waited for two weeks and in the meantime spoke with someone in Chrysler Customer Service who recommended me to take my truck to a different dealer. I took my truck to two dealers. One, who said it was raining and they could hear the noise because of the wet surface and another one who held my truck for three days, charged me $150 for a wheel alignment in which after arguing with the service writer he discounted $100 and still did not fix the noise. I bought it to their attention in which a tech rocked the truck back and forth and determined the noise was still there. At this point I called East Hills and spoke with someone in regards to this issue. He told me to call James back because he might have setup something already. I called James back to which he told me that no one in the dealer could do anything at this time. I told him if he could setup an appointment with the regional manager to which he said he or anyone in the dealer could not do anything. I told him what options do I have then? He said you have two options. Bring the truck back and trade it in (which I felt is very slimy of him to say since he should know that I wouldn't get what I paid for and no bank would be in there right mind to accept such an offer) or file a Lemon Law, law suite. I told him how long does the process take and he told me about three months in which Dodge cuts a check and then we put you into a new vehicle. I explained that the law states that I go to the manufacture first and speak to the regional manager or someone at the dealer who can help me out. He said it again, there is no one at this point in this dealer or management who can do anything about the situation you’re going through file the lawsuit. Now I have stopped driving my truck because the law also states I cannot pass 18,000 miles in order for me to consider filing lemon law. I am at 17,250 now. I have to take a bus and three trains to get to work each day. The first bus leaves at 5 am and it takes me three hours to get to work (compared to commuting with my Journey which is 45 min) in which I am late every day because I am supposed to start by 7am. Thank God my boss somewhat understands the situation I am going through. But only God knows how far that will take me before I get fired. The same goes for coming back home. I don't get time to spend with my girls because by the time I get home each night they are asleep. I can't go to church on weekdays because the last bus leavening the train station is at 11pm and my church is in Queens, I live in Westchester. I still have to pay the bank for financing the truck and insurance for a vehicle that I won’t be able to use in the next three months. If you want to buy a Chrysler vehicle from East Hills Jeep go ahead. I highly recommend this dealer for that. There sales staff and overall buying experience is great. They will fight to get you the best price. But just pray to God that nothing goes wrong. Because it looks like they don't take responsibility over issues they cannot fix. More
I will keep this review short and sweet. STAY AWAY. I have purchased several vehicles over the last few years and have experience with several dealerships. This was by far the worst. Buyer Beware. 1. have purchased several vehicles over the last few years and have experience with several dealerships. This was by far the worst. Buyer Beware. 1. Classic Bait and Switch. Was in agreement to purchase a vehicle for a set price. When I took delivery , it was a different vehicle , a few thousand dollars higher. 2. Inflated the Bank Fee. Ally Bank charges $495. Dealer charged me $895. Would not be surprised if the interest rate was marked up either. 3. Charged almost $500 for plates. This is the actual cost of registration which is estimated at purchase. Not fees charged by the dealership in which I was already charged $75.00 for. When DMV mailed my registration it was $241.00. I am owed a refund for over 2 months now. 4. Left a deposit on the vehicle which was double charged. Had to return to dealership to get my card credited. 5. Mileage on “new car” was 90! Probably dealer demo car and not reflected on the lease agreement. 6. Had appointment to pickup vehicle and my sales person CURTIS ROSE did not even show up. Nothing was ready. I offered the dealership that I would keep quiet and not write any negative reviews or make any complaints. I simply want was stolen from me (Bank and Registration Fee) returned. Would have let the bait and switch slide. Heard nothing. You think they would jump at the opportunity to simply return to me what is mine and the bait and switch could have been swept under the rug. Bough the car in November 2013. Thieves. More
