There are a lot of Chevy dealers on Long Island that deliver substantially better customer service. Trust me, take your business somewhere the management values your business! I promise, you will thank me. My Review... Where do I start... My fiancé and I were in need of a second car and decided we wanted to purchase a Certified Chevrolet Equinox. We looked online and determined Paul Conte Chevrolet had the right vehicle (color, miles, features, etc.). Upon arriving, we walked in and asked to speak with a sales consultant and ended up with Joey ( in Used Car Sales). This is when it started to go down hill. We made it very clear to Joey that we knew what we were looking for and wanted to test drive it. During the test drive, we spoke about our schedule and that if we made the decision, we would like to have the deal done and be leaving within a 2 - 3 hours. He acknowledged our schedule limitations and assured us it would be rather quick. After two 10 minute, back to back, test drives (my fiancé and I), we quickly decided to buy the car. This is when things started to get worse. We spent 20 minutes talking about the price and filling out the finance application. From there, Joey told us we should go get lunch due to how long the wait was going to be. While this wasn't what we wanted to do, we were okay with it. We had the expectation we would come back and the paperwork would be ready to go. When we got back from being out for an hour, Joey acknowledged us and told us they were still working on it. Ultimately, it ended up taking 3 hours for the paperwork to be ready and for us to sign it. This is completely unacceptable and a waste of both parties time. Due to how long it took, we rushed the pickup process and didn't have anything setup by the sales guy. All we wanted was to leave and get on with our day. This is where is gets even worse. Part of the deal included wheel locks and we were going to need to return the following weekend since they didn't have them in-stock. Being that we only had availability on the weekends, it took 3 weeks for the parts to arrive and for us to get in. I ended up scheduling a time with Joey for this Saturday between 12pm and 1pm. When we arrived, Joey acknowledged us and then ran around for 15 minutes while we stood there. When I started speaking with him, I informed him we would like the NY State Inspection sticker moved/fixed as it was crooked and looked bad. My fiancé and I are very meticulous with our cars and want them to look "clean". This sticker looked like a kid put it on the windshield. Upon discussing this with Joey, he told me that he couldn't do it. I found this very interesting as we just purchased the car less then 1 month ago, it was crooked and they offer free NY State Inspections for the car being that we purchased it from them. I mentioned that this was unacceptable and that they needs to fix it. Instead of being professional and quickly talking with his management, he decided to argue with me. Then I went to talk with him direct manager Joe. Joe is the Used Car Sales Manager. At first, Joe was a pleasure to talk with and he had to tell Joey to stop talking and leave. I thought he understand my concern and was going to address it until he told me, "it's a lot of paper work for it to be moved". I let him know I understood but believed it should be fixed as it shouldn't have been put on like that in the first place. We went outside to look at it and this is when it got even worse. Joe started telling me that it was straight and that I was wrong. I told him I planned on reviewing their customer service for the entire purchase and he started yelling. I called my fiancé who was inside and said we're leaving. As she was coming out, Joe then came back in a very bad attitude and said they're printing a new one in the back and would give it to me. I declined as I wasn't going to wait any longer after being there for 35 minutes and as far as I knew, how could he do this so fast when he told me less then 10 minutes before there was paperwork and they would need to reinspect the car. Was the new sticker not going to be registered with NY State? As I mentioned, we were there to get our wheel locks. To put the wheel locks on, Joey comes out regular socket wrench to install them. I declined to let him install them as I had the feeling he was not qualified and I know he was using the wrong tool. So, after 35 minutes at the dealership, we accomplished nothing other then picking our wheels locks up. I ended up installing them myself in the driveway when we got home. One good note, the finance guy (not the manger) is very nice and deserves to be in a much higher level dealership. He is customer service driven and it was a pleasure talking with him. More
