Worst Car Purchase Experience I Ever Had! I was in the market for a Lexus coupe and had looked at Certified Pre-Owned vehicles at Lexus dealerships but happened to find a pre-owned Lexus RC350 I was in the market for a Lexus coupe and had looked at Certified Pre-Owned vehicles at Lexus dealerships but happened to find a pre-owned Lexus RC350 locally at East Coast Toyota. Now mind you, I always research and do my homework before car shopping, especially if it's a brand I haven't owned before. So I knew a good amount about the vehicle prior but did have a few questions...when I asked Tyrone, his reply was "I know nothing about this vehicle". In my opinion, whether you're selling a new Toyota or a pre-owned vehicle at the dealership you work at, then have some knowledge of the vehicle you're selling. During our test drive, we spoke briefly about the price of the vehicle. Tyrone made sure to mention that the vehicle's internet price was aggressively priced. Now, I would like to add that the internet price was $3200 lower than the actual sticker on the vehicle as it sat in the lot. I asked him if someone didn't check the internet and walked in only knowing the sticker price on the vehicle's window, would they be informed of the internet pricing? His reply..."no, and there's nothing illegal abot that" Once we got back, I inspected the car further and noticed one of the tire's sidewalls had a slash in it to which I had to ask if they would replace it and he said he wasnt sure. We went to his desk where he presented me with the price of the vehicle. The printout included a $995 'reconditioning' fee which I questioned and he replied "it's for safety inspections, detailing, etc". I found that funny, because if they did a safety inspection they would've noticed the slash in the sidewall (amongst other things that I'll discuss later in this review). When I asked him about the tire replacement he told me that I would have to make him an offer before he can tell me whether or not he'll replace it. I made him an offer to which he attempted to shake my hand and replied "good luck, that's not going to happen". I began to leave, to which he then replied "come on man, make me an INTELLIGENT offer". At that point I was offended...so basically he was saying that I made him a stupid offer? I asked to speak to a manager to which he questioned why would I need a manager. I told him that I was offended. A manager came over asking what the problem was, I told him...he apologized for Tyrone and said that he's been here for 6-7years now. Well, that just adds insult to injury because if you've been in the business that long, you wouldn't be treating your customers with such disrespect. I realize that you're in the business of selling cars and making commission but don't treat your potential customers as if they are just another dollar sign walking in. After an excruciating 45 minutes of negotiating, we finally came to an agreed deal including the replacement of the slashed tire. When Tyrone presented me with the revised purchase price document, they 'accidentally' added an additional $500 to it which I quickly pointed out and they corrected. Had it not been for this particular vehicle that I was searching for (which my wife & I fell in luv with)and given the low miles/overall condition/history of this vehicle, I would not have given this dealership my business! Anyone shopping for pre-owned vehcles may be able to understand & relate to this, it can be tough to find exactly what you're looking for. I picked the car up that night. I noticed the two rear license plate bolts with the heads broken off which would hinder any plate to be installed. Tyrone was well aware of this problem but chose not to tell me. Also, the right front wheel had a flat spot on the inside of the rim, causing a vibration in the car to which my salesman told me they wouldn't repair. So what did the $995 reconditioning fee actually cover??! (At other dealerships that I have gone to, if I had pointed out a bent/flat spot on a rim they automatically told me that they would take care of that for me at no charge. It cost me $125 out of my own pocket, which I had done by a mobile rim repair service. If they wanted to start righting their wrong with my experience, they could start by reimbursing me for the $125 I spent on this rim repair! I wouldn't recommend Tyrone Wright or this dealership to anyone!! More
