I will never purchase a vehicle to own ever again. I called Earnhardt to ask about a CR-V. They told me they had the perfect model for me that was in my price range, and asked for a $1000 deposit to re I called Earnhardt to ask about a CR-V. They told me they had the perfect model for me that was in my price range, and asked for a $1000 deposit to reserve the vehicle because they only had one and someone was interested in the car. I paid the $1000 thinking I had the option to change my mind. I did not know I was buying the car right there. I needed some extra time to save some more money for the down payment so I could get the loan from my bank. I asked them to refund my deposit until I could have my financing in order, and then I would inquire again once I had the loan ready. I was told the deposit was non refundable, but they would be willing to hold the car until I was ready. When I placed the deposit, I did not know I was purchasing the car. No one told me the deposit was not refundable, and I never even got any paperwork or signed anything. I could not get my money back, so I decided to let them hold the car until I had the down payment ready as they suggested. I purchased the CR-V two months ago. Sales experience was nice, but they told me I had to pay a whole bunch of extra dealer fees that was with every vehicle no matter what. I did not know about these fees until the very end, because this is the first car I ever bought; but I paid it. In addition to these dealer fees, I found out I was charged a lot extra for stuff I did not want. Window tinting, but the car was already tinted at the factory. Paint protection I did not want. Many other things I did not want. I was even charged for a first aid kit, which I did not ask for, but also did not even have in the car. I actually would have liked to have the first aid kit, but no one told me it was an option. I don't know why I was charged if I did not get one though. They told me overall I was paying less than invoice when I asked about it, so I thought I was still getting a good deal. I scheduled my first oil change, and when I showed up, I was told my vehicle would be ready in 30 minutes. I was there for 4 hours. While I was there I was looking at some other cars. I was bored so I asked about different cars and stuff. I then got curious and asked if I could see the invoice for my car I purchased a few weeks ago and they printed it for me. My heart almost stopped as the invoice certified by J.P. Morgan was 35% less than what I was told when I bought the car. I brought this to one of the sales people, I did not catch his name because he just smiled at me, winked with one eye, turned around and walked away. Finally after I found someone else they went and got the General Manager. He told me the additional money was the dealer prep fee. It seemed like a lot of money for prepping a vehicle, so I searched it when I got home. Lots of sites say the fee is a false fee, other sites say the fee should not be more than $500. I do not know what is true anymore. I was lied to and paid OVER ONE THIRD of what I was supposed to pay according the the J.P. Morgan invoice. When I told my friend about my experience, she told me that the deposit in the beginning is supposed to be refundable because I did not agree on any pricing or even agree to buy the car. She told me she thinks if it was non refundable I should have got some paper work or something. So I personally feel like I was stolen from. I do not know how all of this is legal. I decided not to go to Earnhardt Honda for my future service appointments. I did not know what else to do so I took my losses. Now after two months of ownership, my CR-V is going through oil every 2,000 miles. This was the final straw and what caused me to put this review on Dealer Rater. Not only was I blatantly lied to and grossly overcharged, but now the entire engine is defective! This has been my first and probably last car buying experience. I would rather lease a car from someone honest, or take the bus or a taxi. I will never shop at any Earnhardt dealership ever again. I also will never buy or consider a Honda ever again. I love my vehicle and the service department I purchased my very first vehicle in 2015. To this day I've been happy with my purchase! The Honda Service department is great!
