Tex Earnhardt, founder and CEO of Earnhardt Auto Centers was born on December 9th, 1930. As a child, Tex moves with his family to Texas for a more agricultural life.
From that point on, Tex was raised on a ranch in the Rio Grande Valley of Southern Texas, establishing his affinity for ranching, agriculture and cowboy culture.
It was in 1951 when he was twenty years old, that he and his family moved to Chandler, AZ; where his father, Hal Earnhardt, Sr. started a small gas station downtown.
The service station provided a small income for his family by selling gas and auto parts. Tex wanted to expand his business to sell automobiles, but the factories in Detroit refused to ship the vehicles to him without expensive transportation costs. Tex went to work and immediately found a solution. He and a friend decided to drive to Detroit, buy a car from the factory, drive both vehicles back to Chandler, and sell the new car. As soon as he sold his first car, he drove right back to Detroit and purchased the second. He repeated the whole process for months.

We were in to pick up our car after service and took a few minutes to look around the showroom. We are interested in an SRX crossover but have many questions. We also are not interested just now but in few minutes to look around the showroom. We are interested in an SRX crossover but have many questions. We also are not interested just now but in a few years. My wife and I tend to take a lot of time getting to know the vehicle we are purchasing and are just starting the process. In spite of this Chuck spent time with us on two different occasions answering our questions and pointing out things we might be interested in after listening to what was important to us in a vehicle. Needless to say when the time comes we will be looking for Chuck at Kachina. More

We have a Pontiac Grand Prix GXP and after our dealership closed, we went to Kachina because it was the closest. What a surprise! We were very happy with our buying experience at Kachina. We were greeted by Chuck Witthaus in a very friendly and professional manner. The entire process of buying the car was handled expeditiously. Chuck was very knowledgeable about all the procedures. He explained all the great features of the car and demonstated how to use them. We felt comfortable in driving the car for the first time from the dealer to our home. To make our visit even more comfortable, we were offered food and beverages. The paaperwork for the car license was easiily taken care of by Ed and we were even able to get the personalized plate that we wanted. Ed and Chuck work very well as a team and both appear to be very concerned with taking care of all the customers car needs. We were also pleased with the gift of a pen and key fob from Chuck. All-in-all we found the time spent at the dealership to be a very good experience. That is not always the case when purchasing a car. Everyone we encountered was friendly and concerned about our well-being. When we need a new car, we know exactly where we will be heading. More
