Elliott Auto Group sold my family a vehicle that was unsafe to drive as it had blatant safety issues. My husband and I found our 2007 Yukon XL Denali online for $19,995 and after speaking with the salesman all day we decided to purchase over the phone (agreeably not the best decision). We confirmed over the phone and via text and photos that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle except for a scratched headlight/front fender. Salesman confirmed via text and over the phone that everything else worked and there were no other issues with the vehicle. Salesman also verbally stated over the phone that there was a 30 day warranty that covered the vehicle. Our vehicle was then delivered in the dark at 8:15pm on a Tuesday night by a woman who was approximately in her mid to late 60's (nice lady). There was paperwork that stated AS-IS, No warranty. At 8:30 at night, who are we supposed to call to discuss this. Our salesman was not working this day and was not readily available. Since she had a three hour drive back to the dealership, we signed and sent her on her way. Upon daylight we began to look over the vehicle. We noticed that there was a non-working brake light ($125), damaged/broken headphones ($50), missing cosmetic pieces ($250+), a broken gas tank lid ($15). We had to open the gas lid by crawling underneath the vehicle and pushing it open. Yes, had we came to see the vehicle in person we could have negotiated these things (and others like floor mats, key fobs and a second key) into the deal. The very upsetting part is what we found out today after having our mechanic look the vehicle over. The vehicle is unsafe to drive on the interstate because it is missing bolts and sway bar end links. These are not things a car buyer would normally check for, especially considering you would have to crawl underneath the vehicle to notice them. These missing parts could cause the wheels to literally fall off the vehicle. Not something a family of five, with three kiddos, wants to hear after they've been driving their kids around in the vehicle. Now, I'm not looking for free money or free parts. These bolts are relatively cheap and inexpensive to replace (I know this because I'm paying to have them replaced). Upon speaking to Cotton at Elliott Auto Group today, who was very rude and very ungentlemen like, I was informed that because we bought an AS-IS vehicle, there's nothing they can do about it. #1 I was told over the phone that there was a 30 day warranty that came with the vehicle. #2 How does a dealership, in good conscience, not replace CHEAP missing parts that can impact the safety of the vehicle and the people inside? We're talking about a $20,000 vehicle here. Please do not purchase a used car from Elliott Auto Group.
