Just totally unexpected awesomeness. When decided we needed to get a new car I knew I wanted a KIA Soul because I loved what I found during my research on the vehicle. Plus, I really needed a car with cruise control for my two or three a year trips to nearby states to see family and friends. Our old car took a hit and needed the fuel pump replaced; we decided it didn't make sense to put more and more money into a 2000 mercury grand marquis when the transmission was already slipping and the engine needed a cylinder replaced because of misfires. Just... too much money in the long run. And really, we wanted something reliable and mostly new. My aunt and fried had purchased their cars from drivetime and really loved the experience. So, I thought, what the hay. They work with all kinds of credit and seem to be pretty cool. So, I looked online, found a car, and made an appointment. I've been working on improving my edit for about a year, but I wasn't sure our percentage rate would be all that great. And I certainly expected at least 800 for a down payment to drive off the lot. We both imagined we'd talk to the dealer, put a hold on the car we wanted (as drivetime offers that for about 30-45 days), and then we'd drive away with a new car in a few weeks. What happened was totally different. They filed our paperwork. My husband had an experian credit score of about 570-something. Mine was 649. They approved us at 15% interest (which, wow) and no money down! Holy rusted metal, Batman! If my credit had been one point higher I would have had an 11% interest rate. Now, we were probably there for a total of fours hours--expected when getting a new car. But, we drove off the lot with a 2010 KIA Soul with about 78k miles on it. We got all the bells and whistles because I believe in warranties. 50k miles/5 year powertrain with 100-200$ deductible if something needs fixed depending on if the dealer is in their circle or not (more if it's not), GAP coverage in case my car is totaled I'll get a new one with no money down, and theft monitoring with gps tracking if it's stolen. It also lets me know if someone else driving my car is speeding. Nice! As for payments, it's set at 201.96 every two weeks--bi-weekly. Kinda seems like a lot, but we needed a good car. I'll be paying this for five years. However, anything I pay extra goes straight into the principle. And they encourage you to pay it off early in order to establish good credit. Everyone at drivetime was nice, courteous, and answered all of our questions without any issue. You should know, if you have a friend who buys a car from them and you've made your first payment already, if they put you down a recommendation you can get 200 off what you currently owe. Which, hey, awesome! I really love drivetime. I can tell you that when my husband decides to get a car in a few years after this one is paid off we'll definitely go to drivetime again simply because they're not pushy, they don't make you feel like you have to buy from them if you're not sure, and there's no pressure. Overall, a wonderful experience. More
