Definitely a 5 star experience even during covid! I am always fortunate to get Vern Chao as my service advisor who is friendly, patient, professional, respectful and will answer questions I may have...I a always fortunate to get Vern Chao as my service advisor who is friendly, patient, professional, respectful and will answer questions I may have...I appreciate he keeps me up to date on time and recommendations needed without any hard sell. My recent visit was the first taking their “shuttle” to and from work was a great experience as well...I believe Alex was the driver in the morning with Mike picking me up in the afternoon...BOTH friendly, engaging and have to add great drivers! I rarely take any shuttle as I tend to get motion sickness and these guys made it a very pleasant ride and flew by with conversation! I made it a point to get their names as they represent Toyota and just impressed with the customer service here! Thanks to all 3 and all staff that made this visit seamless and quick. Absolutely awesome experience! I went in looking for a preowned vehicle under $20,000 and they had an amazing selection. I ended up getting a used Honda civic at an incredible price and my sales person K preowned vehicle under $20,000 and they had an amazing selection. BAIT AND SWITCH is the best way to describe my buying experience at Downtown Toyota of Oakland. I wish I had read some of the reviews and warnings before I came to this dealership. I saw the ad for a use experience at Downtown Toyota of Oakland. I wish I had read some of the reviews and warnings before I came to this dealership. I saw the ad for a used RAV4 Hybrid from CARFAX and thought the price was a good deal. I figured CARFAX is a trusted company and I could trust this place. That was my first mistake. When I got there, I was told that the price had been reduced by a $1,000. I thought wow, great! My second mistake was not walking away as soon as I was told that because they added some outside and inside protection to the car so that it’s protected from all kinds of weather, the price is now $4,000 more. Really? After going back and forth multiple times, I was told they would deduct $2,000 from the new price but that I would be happy with the protection. My biggest mistake was in the end, I got worn out and ended up buying the car with $3,000+ added "stuff" which were not even itemized on the contract. There was also no warranty at all and I had to negotiate for a better warranty pricing. AND as soon as I left the dealership, I had to find the nearest gas station because the gas warning light came on and when I called to ask why it was empty, I was told that they only put gas in brand new cars. But no gas at all? There’s so many other Toyota dealerships. Avoid this one. More
