Best experience buying a car I totaled my 2018 Altima last week in an accident, and went to Downtown Nashville Nissan, hoping to get the same car again. Jim was extremely helpful I totaled my 2018 Altima last week in an accident, and went to Downtown Nashville Nissan, hoping to get the same car again. Jim was extremely helpful and understood my situation. In a little over 2 hours I drove away in my brand new 2018 Altima. It was amazing, fast and I could not have asked for better after still being shaken up by last week accident. More

They’re upfront and honest, they took time to listen to me; they even drove my old car to my house with me so I could empty stuff from my old car while keeping my new car pristine. Shady Wizard of OZ bait and switch tactics I was attracted to visit this dealer by advertised price drop on a CPO vehicle of the model, type and trim of vehicle I am looking for. The advertised I was attracted to visit this dealer by advertised price drop on a CPO vehicle of the model, type and trim of vehicle I am looking for. The advertised price was at the lower end of the KBB and Carfax suggested prices but still in the reasonable range. The price history showed the price had been dropped about $2,000 over the month it had been listed online. After arriving at the dealership, speaking with the salesman, and test driving the car we entered the "sales" phase. He asked how much I'd be putting as a down payment and after telling him I'd be paying cash, I was left to wait for the "man behind the glass curtain" to produce the cost of the car. In addition to the expected taxes, tag, and title fees, the sheet I was shown when the salesman returned had 2 additional fees added to advertised sales price: some CPO/warranty fee of almost $2,000 and another ~$1000 fee for them to see if the brakes or tires needed to be replaced (after only 5000 miles no less). This brought the total cost to approximately $6,000 more than the advertised price. The sticker shock on my face must have been obvious. When I asked if these 2 additional warranty costs were optional I was told, they "might" be able to remove one or the other, but not both, and was left alone again for another "man behind the glass curtain" visit. When the salesman returned I was not presented with a different price, but was offered to show me other "cheaper" cars. After a quick tour of cars on the lot that did not have to features specific to the model/trim I had mentioned I was looking for, the salesman told me he "might" be able to get me the original car at about $3,000 less than the trumped up sales sheet I was presented. I told him I would keep it under consideration (although mentally I had already decided I wouldn't be doing business with this dealership no matter the price at this point). We walked back to the showroom and the salesman said he would get me his business card. Instead of the business card I was presented with the "man behind the glass curtain". This wizard regaled me with the price of the car if it was new and how to get to a lower price I would have to consider other "cheaper" cars. When I told him that I was looking for a car with the features of the car I'd come to see at the advertised price, he then instead tried to convince me to finance a portion of the price of the car because it was only "simple interest" and had "no prepayment penalty". I explained that I simply wanted to pay now for a reasonable price for the type of car I had come to see. He quickly dismissed himself with a cursory adieu. The sales guy was helpful and nice enough during the test drive and information gathering, but this dealership clearly promotes or at least condones some sketchy tactics. The price that was advertised for this CPO vehicle was clearly a bait and switch to try and hide this CPO and some "other" type of warranty fee that they intend to charge to get the sales price back up to what they wanted to make on the vehicle. Oddly, the price I was finally told I "might" be able to get was eerily close to one that removing these extra fees would have produced. I don't know about you, but I never like the feeling of dealing with someone who is pulling strings from behind the scenes trying to find out just how much they can finagle out of me; employing distractions like the flying primates and the lollipop guild that Dorothy encountered. These are the type of behaviors that have yielded the "used car salesman" stereotype. Rather, I'd prefer dealing with someone confident enough in their own honest intent and the value of their product that they can plainly state it what it's worth up front. So, unless you enjoy the challenge of trying to out swindle a swindler, I wouldn't recommend dealing with this group. More
