I want to share the disgusting behavior of the sales manager, Victor along with the horrible customer service experience that my mother and I received on 03/29/24 when we bought a $33k car CASH. Based manager, Victor along with the horrible customer service experience that my mother and I received on 03/29/24 when we bought a $33k car CASH. Based on prior experience buying a car cash at the other Don McGill location on Kirkwood, I was allowed to take the car and bring the cashier's check at a later time after running my credit. After signing the agreement, I asked Malvin, one of the finance managers for the keys (at this point I had not been given a copy of any document I signed), he stated that Parker (the sales representative that assisted us) was placing the paper tags on the car and he had the keys. He instructed us to go with him. When I asked Parker, he went back inside the offices and came back to tell us that there had been a misunderstanding. I explained to Parker that Malvin had indicated the keys would be given to us, Parker walked us back inside the offices where we were greeted by Malvin and Victor, the sales manager. Victor took one look at us and immediately refused to assist us. Victor's behavior was very nasty from the start. He raised his voice at us, paying customers, in the middle of the lobby. He discriminated against us and humiliated us. He told us that without the money they could give us the keys or a copy of the documents we had signed. I tried explaining to Victor that prior experience had allowed us to do the same in the past. I also told Victor that my mother, who is a senior and diabetic, had been in an accident early in the month and was desperately in need of a car. I explained that we had been looking at cars all morning (it was close to 4pm at that point) and wanted to go home and eat a meal. Victor refused and continued to yell at us in the lobby in front of other customers and sales representatives. He asked what bank we had, and instructed Parker to drive us so we could bring the money. When I tried to assure Victor again that we would bring the money, he turned to Malvin and instructed Malvin to void the agreement if we were refusing to pay. At that point, embarrassed and humiliated, I turned back and went to the bank to get the cashier's check so that I could take my mother back home and eat a meal. Victor thought because we are Hispanic and we were not dressed in fancy clothes that we would be stealing the car and not bring the car back. When we came back with the cashier's check, we met with Antoine Baxter, the only employee that treated us with decency. He apologized and explained to us that all that was needed to be done was to run my credit, he even stated that it was no different than financing and they had previous clients do the same where they buy a car cash and are allowed to come back to pay in a certain amount of time. Again, I had done this prior at the Kirkwood location. The customer service at this Don McGill Toyota - Katy is absolutely repulsive. The fact that management behaves this way towards customers says a lot about the culture and values of the employees. Now instead of being happy with the new car, every time I look at it, I am reminded of the time I was shamed at a dealership. I feel like I do not want to come back to this dealership even for services to my car. if it was out of necessity, I would return this car and go somewhere else. No one deserves to be disrespected like Victor discriminated against us. More
Everyone from sales to service is knowledgeable and professional. We drive from Austin to Katy to purchase our vehicles because of the service.
